Howdy all,
So trying something new for my daemons; I intend to use them when we restart my FLGS campaign before long. I've lost twice to Nid's using my old list; stupid venomthropes were the bane of my existance due to lack of shooting. That being said, I'm going more "shooty", and less net-listy with this iteration:
HQ
----
Fateweaver - 333
Bloodthirster - Blessing, Might - 275
Elite
------
5x Fiends - 150
5x Fiends - 150
Troops
---------
5x Horrors - Bolt - 95
5x Horrors - Bolt - 95
5x Horrors - Bolt - 95
5x Horrors - Bolt, Changling - 100
Heavy
-------
Daemon Prince - Wings, MOT, Bolt - 200
Daemon Prince - Wings, MOT, Bolt - 200
Daemon Prince - MoN, Cloud, Might, Hide, Touch - 155
Total: 1848
Thoughts: So. my old list used min PB squads and some crushers. I found wings are pretty much needed; too many armys could play "keep away" from my bolt princes; that was no bueno. I also used to use Skarbrand, but I found that some armies benefitted too much from it, plus shooty armys just played keep away from him. The MoN prince is slogging it mostly due to point constraints; but he should be pretty survivable.
My primary wave in most games would be:
Weaver
1 MoT DP
2 horrors
1 fiends
Thirster
Secondary:
2 horrors
1 fiends
Both other DP's
Thoughts?

What is Fateweaver's roll in this list? He is to slow to keep up with the Bloodthirster, fiends, or winged DPs, so he'll be left escorting the lone non-winged DP. Of course if he is around the other guys he'll help them out but if they need to move anywhere fast they'll likely move out of his bubble.
Other than that, I really love minimum sized horrors units as troops. I made the switch from PB to horrors a while back and haven't looked back. I love having the extra bolts to throw around.

I like it! I would be interested to see if you think soulgrinders could be substituted with tongue and phlegm to add in some pie plate action against hordes.

I agree. Demon Princes are certainly better. Only problem is, the Soul Grinder model looks amazing. I run it half the time because of how awesome it looks on the board.

It's kinda funny. I had to check and make sure for a second. Even after I just got done attempting to build a Fateweaver. Those damn wings are such a pain in the arse.

Daemon Princes are better because you have more to use FW's bubble on.
For horde I was thinking breath, but honestly, horrors rock especially when they're throwing 15 shots a turn

I would say drop the wings and get some Icons.
If your so worried of Shooty armies dodging the bolt then shove the DP right up to them.
Anyway all shooty armies I know have Heavy weapons so I doubt you would see much moving. Mech lists would move though.

Not really worried about shooty armies so much as Tyranids with venomthropes in particular. Nothing (NOTHING) is more annoying than shooting my bolts at venomthropes in 4+ cover and having the stupid tyranid prime soak up the shots
