Heya, I've just found that where I've added photos from Flickr to threads on Dakka the images are all coming back broken. This is effecting both old photos from the beginning of my P&M blog right up to the latest ones. I upload to a few different forums and no where else is having this problem, just here.

Has there been an issue with Flickr blocking Dakka I should know about?

Thanks in advance,

Vent

I haven't heard of anything specific regarding flickr, but obviously when flickr is hosting your pics you are at the mercy of them when it comes to how or when they allow hot-linking of their images. Do you have a link to a thread with the flickr images not displaying?

But I also have to ask:

Assuming these are miniature game related photos, why not use the Dakka gallery to host your images? Its totally free and you are perfectly free to link your images from the Dakka gallery to other forums or sites you visit.

Heya,

Here's my main blog thread.

Here's my tutorial.

As for using Dakka to host my images. I might be heading down that road soon enough... If Flickr continues to give me grief...

Yep, it looks like Flickr is preventing direct linking of their images.

Just to Dakka though, cause other forums have no problems... Oh well. I'll just let you guys host em from here on... Guess I'll have to start a new blog...

I just tried it on a couple other forums I visit and it didn't work there either.

I found this in Yahoo's Terms of Service:

You agree to not use the Services to...

f. upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights ("Rights") of any party;

Could this possibly be why the images are broken, due to possible infringement of GW IP content? Or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

Back in the UK and hating it

It's certainly not a blanket wide thing - my images linked to Dakka are broken, but I can still link fine to them from a Photography forum I use.

Maybe Flickr are limiting linking to higher traffic sites?

Was there ever any kind of resolution on this? I have had no problems posting Flickr photos elsewhere. In fact, Flickr includes a way to generate both HTML and BBCOde from linking the images - so clearly they don't have a problem with this.

BTW - It looks like the images will sometimes load. For example, when I checked the preview before posting the image appeared. Once I posted it was gone. I came back to the topic later and it was there momentarily then gone.
