Over the past few months I have been slowly acquiring pieces for a guard outfit. The expectation was that I would be able to use the modelling in order to help me quit smoking! It hasn't worked out well so far. So, with exams concluded and only my disseration left to write, I think I have come up with a new plan. Just do it. Over the past few days I've washed, dried, and cut various pieces off the sprue, no painting has even begun yet! Best part of all is no smoking yet either! Anyway, here's some pics of my work so far.

Also, a question. While putting together chimeras and a few sentinels I came across the idea of having a 'hydra sentinel'. Should I continue with it or scrap the project? Would you have a problem playing against this counts as hydra? Appreciate any feedback!

I like the idea of the Hydra. Although I've always been one for if it looks cool, use it :-)
Only suggestion I'd have is maybe putting the Heavy Bolter underneath? The heavy bolter
just looks a little to high up.
Oh, and good luck with the no smoking

I know a guy who turned to model trains to help stop his addiction, claiming that if he wanted to be able to afford the gear he'd have to give up smoking. It worked! He hasn't smoked since.
Good luck and make sure to post pictures when you assemble more!

Thanks for the comments and support guys! I tried a bunch of different configurations for the heavy bolter. I tried it coming out of the sentinel weapon emplacement. Also tried it slung right underneath the autocannons. Hanging underneath definately looks the best I think. Keep in mind this is still very wip. After it looks how I want I will file down the rough edges and fill the gaps with green stuff. What does everyone think? Is this thing hydra worthy??

Well happy Easter to everyone! The holiday made it quite easy not to smoke as there was many things to do! Unfortunately, however, not much modelling was accomplished. Although, I did manage to work on two sentinels. The new sentinel kit is a pleasure to build! The possibilities for the legs and weapon loadouts are endless! With all the bitz though it made it a little difficult to decide how exactly to pose these guys. I knew I wanted them to capture an element of speed. Scouting quickly around the flanks and hacking through cover with razor sharp chainsaws, all with the goal of scoring that one key side/rear armour shot. A few bitz still need to be added, including a driver, I am just unsure exactly how I want the driver right now. Also some rogue mould lines need to be taken off still. Work is still happening on the hydra but hopefully it will be finished off tonight after work. Anyway, hope you enjoy! And as always, please feel free to comment!

I really like the way your sentinels are running, although I hope you have weighted the bases to avoid them toppling over. Also, while heavier machines like tanks and artillery pieces wouldn't look too good converted to Sentinel chassis, Hydra would be probably exempt, due to the Rifleman factor. Still, I'd try to make the legs a bit more, for want of a better word, meaty, to compensate for the extra weight of four autocannons and other stuff. Also, mounting some radar antenna, perhaps styled after the ones used on ZSU-23-4, on top of the cockpit would help distinguishing it as a Hydra stand in.

@ Marcin
The sentinels are actually surprisingly stable without any added weights. I agree that that the heavy tanks and artillery are not suited for a sentinel chasis both in game and modelling wise. I really like the sentinel kit and so my thinking is to include as many as possible of these guys. The only problem is that they are not particularly competitive. This is especially true of the armoured version. So in order to be able to enjoy their look while retaining in-game utility, why not convert a hydra on the chassis?
Here is the first protype. Its pretty muched finished just need to add some minor detailing and fix up the greenstuff. I dont get to model as often as I'd like and so the process is slow going. I am anxious, however, to have more opinions on the counts as hydra. I'd also like to apologize in advance for the poor quality of the pics. Any tips or direction to relavant threads are appreciated!
