Finished this one a while ago but only could find time to upload this week.
Work mainly done with airbrush and the sorcerer is not glued to the base so that he can be fielded on foot as well.

It's very good once again, but i have only 2 critiscisms

1. The sorcerer just doesn't seem to stand out. All the demons and the disk itself are glowing, where as the sorcerer just looks like he isn't doing anything. Should he not have some sort of magical glow about him?

2. There's OSL everywhere.....except the ground

For this piece there's only meant to be only 2 main light sources (the torch and demonic flames on the disc) and 1 small one (his chest)
I suppose the use of white on the spikes and screamers kind of make the overall tone seem brighter. Thanks for pointing it out - next time I will try and preserve the use of white in the places that are meant to be the light source.

That is in my case!

In the second image, i think the OSL effects from the torch come across quite well.

Lovely choice of colours, I love the cold blue and purple. It's all so smooth as well.

- Yeah man, I've fielded him twice. Once against DE and once against marines. He managed to wreck two raiders and instagibb Lelith, also killed a few wychs. Against the marines he had a field day. Dreadnoughts, marines, scouts - you name it lol.

-Haha, if you lived in New Zealand like myself and Nucleasaur, you could get him to paint one yourself!
He's very reasonable in terms of pricing and the models look 10x better in person!

The torch burns the flame of daemon - I believe it changes color at night!

Glad to hear that - I wish I had someone to play with here! Waiting for my battlefoam bag so I can bring my mostly unpainted army to town to play.

I agree with the models looking much better in person.
Just wondering, does he look out of place on a gaming table without the black background?

Nah man, he looks awesome on the battlefield, i have a few things that are tzeentchian so the blues and purples mesh well with my army and the surroundings.

Do you come to Wellington at all..? You should man, we could have a game!

On an average model how much would you airbrush vs hand-paint? That's something I've always wondered... (by average model I mean say... A bolter marine, or base firewarrior or the like; just a regular line soldier).

Hi - To be honest I've only started airbrushing August 2010 (that's when I first invested in the system) and now still I learn new things every time I work.
The more I learn, the more I am able to use airbrush to do things instead of using a good old brush.
In addition to this, I've also been practising T-shirt airbrushing and graffiti intensely as well - in the hope that one day I could earn some $$$ with this tool (hot rod painting too! though they're not completely the same thing (different techniques, different paint) but definitely my airbrush control and precision got better thanks to those who've donated old T shirts for me to paint haha.

It really depends on the model and style - if GW style is called for then mostly it'll just use airbrush to prime and basecoat and maybe add some zenithal lighting. Smaller blocked colors would be hand painted since the style doesn't tolerate overspray, rather, blocked colors and defined edged are called for. That said, it's not impossible to paint a marine to GW style with airbrush - but you'd waste most of your time masking your models with liquid mask/tape, which may take longer than to paint by hand.

For my own style, on average, I use airbrush to paint 60-90 percent of a project. Basing, base edge painting, priming, base coating and some details are normally painted with airbrush. The rest, like eyes, extreme HL, emblems or shoulder pads lining, I hand paint them (reluctantly! hopefully soon I will be able to use airbrush to paint them all without having overspray all over)

Maybe I'm still in a phase - but it's such a cool and useful equipment!
