high i just read both space wolf books and i had some questions they dount adress in the books.
first up hager was about twice as big as ragnar and they said this was a flaw in his gene seed. why was this.
second are the Thousand sons able to speak if not a sorcerer and just a regular guy? and finally wouldn't the wolfen curse effect the wolf guard as one of the last because they are the best soldiers becideds the lords. thanks i know this is useless but ohh well.

1) Gene seed is a biological organ that is reused again and again over thousands of years. Space Wolf geneseed is a little unstable to begin with and although the Wolf Priests check and recheck it, there are always subtle interactions that can cause abnormalities in recruits. Hager is one of them.

2) TS can speak, but they are basically dust in armor, so I imagine most don't.

3) The wulfen curse is complicated and can affect any of the Space Wolves. Later books in that series go into further depth re: the Wulfen curse.

1) geneseed is not reused, geneseed is the developed Progenoid gland, each geneseed contains the material to make all 20 organs that are needed to make a space marine. when the progeniods are implanted (phase 18) they mature into new geneseed over 5 and 10 years each.

Over time some chapters developed faults in their geneseed that has led to certain organ functions or anomalies occuring, such as lack of being able to create acidic saliva or the advanced growth of bones and teeth beyond normal. However outside of these chapter wide traits there are a proportion of initiates that do not respond to the transformation as they should resulting in anything from blood crazed lunatics with superstrength, initiates trapped between human and marine so become serfs and those that just die.

2) Thousands Sons come in two types those with psyker powers so are alive, and those that are rubic marines which are just dust in an enclosed shell that have no higher brain function.

I understand that when a gene seed is implanted it takes root but if it is corrupted or dysfunctional why wood not they though it out?

Reused was the wrong word, but the same seed grows into a prog, which is used to seed, etc, so on. So the original seed has many descendents. My point being that not only can a chapter's geneseed have faults, but individual 'lines' of geneseed can as well.

I assume you mean throw it out. The easy answer is that they may not know. Or in Hager's case it is tough to tell whether it was the geneseed or his individual biology. I'm sure they will carefully consider using his before they do.

I maybe he was really fat before and the fat messed it up?

Yes but that still dose not explain what is in the cup of wolfen to provoke such a reaction from the gene seed.

not uncommon trait but quite extreme in this case. i blame hagers genetics, not the seed. he was probably a giant before he was given the seed, and then the seed exagerated that as in any other initiate.

The cup of wulfen is a medical device in the form of a relic, fenrisian biology and space wolf geneseed have the unique fault of the canis gene, in some initiates this can lead to a marine turning into a wulfen, the cup of wulfen may be used to accelate the process some how (such as a retro-virus) so that the wolf priests can deal with them more effectively.

I see so its used to find out who is worthy of being a space wolf.
