I only do it on vehicles, but essentially, pick up some small rare earth magnets. I use K&J Magnetics Neodymium disk magnets. The size is important for what you're doing, but they make a range of sizes. Get a drill bit of the same size (aka 1/16inch diameter magnet means 1/16inch diameter drillbit). Bore out a hole deep enough (a little deeper is fine, I like not to go too shallow). MARK THE MAGNETS in some way to ensure polarity. I take a permanent marker, and fill in the sides that go together. This is vastly important with swappable parts. I then put a drop of glue into the hole, and push the magnet in. Another drop of glue helps seal it, and from there you can file down the excess afterwards. These magnets are strong, so let the glue settle. I've seen them rip each other out if not left to settle properly. Another variant is using metal and magnets. Make an anchor out of a magnetic metal, this helps keeping polarity simple.
