Death-Dealing Devastator

Hey Dakka!
I'm pretty new to Warhammer 40k and i've only been playing/collecting for a few months. So I'm gonna start blogging on here about my Space marine chapter and update asap with each unit i complete.
My chapter is the Storm Callers, a loyalist space marine chapter with a rocky past. Parts of the chapter were corrupted by the forces of chaos during the Taninim Crusades. As battle brothers began to fall to chaos a civil war erupted within the chapter that raged for years apon years until finally the loyal Brothers of the emperor succeeded in cleansing the fallen from their ranks. These marines have struggled to rebuild their broken chapter, gathering the scraps of their old forces and recruiting new brothers from across worlds. With their ranks being replaced, their vehicles being patched and their faith stronger than ever, the Storm Callers are ready to prove their worth to the Emperor!
So the plan is to have a 1500 point army by the end of summer, and luckily I gotta pretty good internship this summer that pays a pretty penny so I'll have some spending money. haha.
So right now i have 2 tac squads, a AoBR captain (i proxy as a libby most of the time) painted a razorback, dread and another tac squad unpainted.
I'm hoping as i build my army i'll be able to include some fluff I'm planning on writing.
So first up i'm going to paint the razorback/Rhino and get it painted up by the end of the week.
Thanks very much for reading and I hope this blog sparks some interest with some people and you guys enjoy my work!
EDIT: I'm gonna add some better pictures once i get my dads camera working and a lightbox build(another project for my week off)

So I forgot to mention the Color scheme for my marines.
Their torso armor, helmets, shoulders and arms are black
Legs, hands and shoulder trim are dark red
aquila is gold
I've base coated the Rhino black and added a few red patches here and there to break up all the black. I should have all the red and metal parts done tomorrow, so i'll upload a photo tomorrow!
Also i made the most shoddy light box ever to get some better photos up, its crappy but it works ok.
For Example:

I'm liking the concept of this chapter, the colour scheme in particular is very striking. Try hitting the libby's face with some wash though, its looking a lil' flat at the moment.

@IamIronMan - yeah ive really been wanting to try out a wash but i'm not sure which one, im visiting my FLGS for a match saturday so i'll pick one up. I guess Delvian Mud would be best.
In a bit of an update my army has progressed quite quickly. I finished painting, but for some minor details, my Rhino/Razorback, based my dreadnought and his arms, and also just got a package with an AoBR Tac Squad.
My plans for the AoBR Tac Squad is to convert 5 into Sternguard by putting scopes on their boltguns and converting a couple to combi-meltas to the best of my ability. But not convert them too crazy incase i need to throw them back into a 10 man tac squad with the others from AoBR.
My next plan is to paint my dread however, so those sternguard are gonna have to wait. I'm gonna paint his feet, legs, and hands red(possibly other places if it doesnt look good. I also want to buy a AoBR dread off eBay and Ageis Line of Defence for those autocannon arms.
other than pics thats all i got for today!

So I finished up about 800 pts so far.
This week i did up the Razorback, Dread, and the sternguard squad but they were a little rushed so i'm probably gonna have to go back and touch up. I wanted to get them Finished up for a game i'm gonna play at my FLGS tommorow.
Anyway here's some pictures and if i have time i'll post a batt rep with some pics tomorrow night.
Enjoy!
and my god my photography skills suckkk, if anyone has advice i'd be happy to take it!

I like the rate of expansion of your army On the photography side of things, to make a decent light box all you need to do is to lean a piece of plain paper against a light surface (Walls and bathtubs are great for this). Turn on the macro setting on your camera if you have it if not, you'll have to take it at distance and then crop it down. The macro symbol is a flower. Don't use the built in flash on your camera. That's about it really

Moving along at a good pace!
I, too, like your color scheme, it fits well in the grimdark.
Have you thought about highlighting your razorback and dread? It's a pretty easy technique and adds a lot of realism.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Rawson
