I'm taking a stab at another game... Malifaux. This will be my progress on my warband/army/whatever (I don't know what they're called in the game).

I chose to go with the Viktorias. They had a Tetsuya Nomura feel to them.

The models were packed between two pieces of foam and in baggies. Its a little different from the blisters that I usually get.

The Viktorias... I'm not too sure what the naming convention for them is so as to distinguish between them when talking about them. "I'm moving Viktoria... no... not Viktoria... Viktoria." The back of the box just calls them each Viktoria.

Johan...This guy looks awesome. The base he comes with is pretty cool and I like the hammer he has.

Taelor...Another hammer carrier. I like this sculpt. It seems proportioned correctly.

Bishop...This guy is dope. I like his long hair, the chain he uses, and the 'come and get me' pose he's got.

Here are the models cleaned up a bit. Ready to be washed/scrubbed.

Next update I'll probably have them just green stuff'd/putty'd to their bases while I get some practice games in. I plan to buy scenic pieces as their bases so I don't want to glue them down just now.

Generally, It's gun vik, and sword vik, or Bounty Huntress and Sword Mistress I think on the cards. Oh, and double check your cards, there were a bunch of people missing one of the Viktoria cards (you should have two) and just email Wyrd and they'll send the other.

Besides that, have fun, I really liked painting that crew, and I hope to see more!

Good to see another Malifaux thread rising it's head here.

Waiting to see update on painting and basing. What kind of scenic bases have you thought about?

At first I was thinking some groundwerks stuff for the bases. But I changed my mind and am going for some Wyrd Miniatures bases.

They have some nice base inserts, I went to Micro Art bases with my resurrectionists.

Not much of an update. This is the state of the models.

Laid out to dry after a scrub/wash (they're probably dry by now).

I won't have any updates maybe until the bases arrive.

A couple suggestions...
1) pick up a blister of "ronin" they are the summon fodder to bring your vik's back to life. (The reason they were not included in the starter box is the models were not available when they built the box.

2) a good totem is always handy, I suggest "student of conflict" since it can give another action to a friendly model in range or use one of its connected masters spells.

3) read the fluff on the Viktorias, its really badass!

Other handy stuff, a convict gunslinger (good for anyone really) or maybe a Hans if you really like him. The list is really melee heavy, so a little more shooting is nice.

Keep it up!

The Viktorias - djphranq's Malifaux project - May 27, 2011

The bases are here!

They Came in a pretty simple blister.

There are 5 different kinds

This is actually the base that comes with Johan. It will be used instead of one of the Victorian bases.

The bases are cleaned up and ready for use.

Glued them onto the plastic bases with the exception of one. I'll use that one later.

I cut the tabs that were at the feet of the models.

Johan had a peg to fit in his base. I trimmed it so he wasn't floating so much.

Here is Burgundy Fate Pack. I believe the color has no effect.

Next Update I plan to do some pinning work so I can figure how to place the models on the bases.

You are right, the colors are just to tie in to faction colors.

The base inserts look nice, can't wait to see them painted.

Really nice to see this thread here. After GW announced that they didn't want internet retailers shipping to the southern hemisphere I spent my monthly GW money on the Malifaux rulebook, and a box of models for myself and one for a friend. I haven't done anything with them yet besides open my box and have a look, but hopefully I'll get on it soon. I love the comic book style of the Malifaux figures.

Beads and some pinning progress.

Counters I plan to use for soul stones and health points. Not sure what else I might use them as. (they'll probably get used for Magic or other games too)

Here's my pin vise, a couple bits, and some paper clip clippings.

Here's an example of my drilling of one of the models.

An example of a base with a hole drilled into it.

Sticking the clipping in to get a feel for how deep the whole is and what I need (sounds dirty).

an example of a pin. Its cut but not glued... I won't do any gluing till all paint is done.

Here is a test fit showing Bishop.

Masking the holes and surrounding areas so I can keep them bare metal to ensure a good bond.

clipping the paper clip pieces would result in the pieces shooting across the room/desk/apartment. I tried to cut them in a bag to keep them from flying around... didn't work...

I suffer for my art lol... the paper clip pieces shoot through the plastic bag... one of them nicked me... I probably shouldn't have tried to cover the bag with my hand.

Here are the different pins for each model. I'm using this to keep track of who had what pin.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/heavybolter/5789600970/

All holes drilled. Pins cut. Models and bases masked. Ready for priming.

Next update I'll have the models primed. Not sure when that will be. I'm trying to figure out if I want to go for black, white, or grey.

Nice progress.

I would go with grey, I prime almost all of my models grey these days. It gives nice base for both dark and light colors, and doesn't show so easily as white does if some place has lighter coat.

I was thinking I was going to do grey...

... then my absent minded butt pulled out the Chaos black. I got done with one side of the minis and then thought... 'wait a minnit' >.<

EDIT:

I ended up going with black undercoat... I meant to use grey but absentmindedly used Chaos Black.

The models, bits, and bases are primed!

I took off the masks. Now I have metal to use for the bond.

Next Update... SOME PAINT!

Applied some paint.

Applied grey to the bases and to the bits that will be metal on the models.

I'm not sure what to do next. Maybe I might work on the 'plants' on the bases or continue with the grey/metal parts.

Good to see more Malifaux here!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Applied some more paint.

Applied a light grey to the bases and to the bits that will be metal on the models.

Next Update, I'll probably do layer of lighter grey.

More grey.

Applied a lighter grey to the bases and to the bits to add a bit more depth.

Next Update, I think I'll start working on the leather/brown parts

It was one helluva Saturday evening...

Applied Chocolate Brown to the brown parts

Mixed some white with chocolate brown to create a highlight

Skorne Red was applied to the Bounty Hunter

I then mixed Khador Red Highlight with Skorne Red a couple times to create some highlights. This is one of the highlights (maybe the first or second).

Used some of the highlight paint for the Bounty Hunter on Taelor's hair. I proceeded to lighten the highlight twice for highlights for the hair but I forgot to take pictures.

Applied Cygnar Blue Base to the Swordmistress

Mixed Cygnar Blue Highlight with some of the Cygnar blue base for a highlight.

Added a little white to my highlight mix for a lighter highlight.

Applied Cryx Bane Base to the pants of Taelor and Johan.

Mixed a little bit of white to create a highlight. Again I had multiple highlights but forgot to take pictures of each one.

Used some of the colors for Taelor's and Johan's pants on the plants of the bases.

Added Light Green to the highlight I used for Taelor's and Johan's pants and I applied it to Bishops hair. I did maybe 3 or 4 different highlights... not pictured.

For the Swordmistress's hair I started with Bloodstone. Mixed that with Heartfire for one layer. Then some Cygnar Yellow with that mixture for another layer. And finally I added white to the mixture for a final highlight.

For the Bounty Hunter's hair I started with Menoth White Base. Than added white to the mixture for each layer that I did.

I used the same colors that I used for the Bounty Hunter's hair also for Taelor's top.

For the flesh I started with Kardic Flesh then gradually mixed in drops of Midlund Flesh and white for each layer.

The paint is done. I did some of the brass/gold bits with Brass Balls. The eyes I did with Menoth White Base and black.

Here are the bases all done.

Here are the models all put together.

Swordmistress

Bounty Hunter

Taelor

Johan

Bishop

One final touch... Painted the bases Sanguine Base to match my Burgundy card deck and bead pouch.... well maybe not final... I still have to seal the models.

Before I seal the models I'm going to go through the details and fix up spots where paint might have overlapped into other parts.

I think the original black base you had in other pictures suited them nicely. The maroon now is hmm :x

The finished crew looks great. Lots of color, but the bases tie them together.

Looking forward for the next crew.

I've had to repair this model twice now. The hand and sword on the unarmored arm has come off twice. It gets caught in the foam. I'll have to modify her spot in the foam. Maybe use a whole new tray but instead of her lying down I'll have her stand up.

Pictures:

Here is Viktoria recently repaired. You can barely make out the crack on her hand where the piece comes off.

Here is her spot in the foam tray I use for my Malifaux stuff.
