So I'm considering on starting a new IG army based on the Wargames Factory shock troops, for those who don't know 'em, here's a pic:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_tCQH9GegMWA/S35uLb1zUqI/AAAAAAAAB5c/ffUNrjuTrtA/s320/BOW-ShockTroop.jpg

so the idea would be, basing them alot on German soldiers of the second world war,
http://static.hlj.com/images/hrn/hrn-waw34.jpg

though I still need a name for my regiment, any ideas??

Today I started designing a chimera for these guys on paper, after I found some interesting bits in my bitsbox like tracks and wheels.
I will completely scratchbuild this thing. When I designed it I tried to make it look as german as possible, as if Albert Speer could have designed it, though still with some Imperial Guard aspects
and keeping the bits that I will use in mind, I will also make a complete interior. The dimensions are almost exactly the same as a normal chimera.
Anyway, tell me what you think.

Right now I'm in the middle of my school exams so don't expect too much progress or updates in the coming week

Westwind's Secrets of the Third Reich range might be worth looking at, I'm using their Brits for my IG.

@ Stormwell, I have seen this figures before and they're quite nice, though I was considering mixing some of these figures in:

http://www.renegademiniatures.com/ww1lwger.htm
http://www.renegademiniatures.com/ww2german.htm
especially those with the gasmasks I really like them.
and maybe using these too:

As to the Chimera, today I made a plan for the top side of the tank, have a look for yourself

For the infantry I was considering using panzerfaust's as grenade launchers.., any thought's on that?

would´t they get confused with rocketlaunchers... like the marines have? but since you want to use the above mentioned minis i guess you wont have other options...are those all metall minis?

The renegade miniatures and artizandesigns are all metall figures, but as I mentioned in my first post I will probably use the wargames factory shock troops as well, and only mixing a few of those metal figures in, for special characters, or veteran and command squads.

Reckon it could work, though it would be interesting to see how you'll do other special weapons...for plasma guns I'm looking at either a conversion from random bitz or finding something else close enough to use.

The chassis you've drawn looks very similar to that of an American M113 apc. You might be able to save yourself a lot of time by getting a few of those in 1:35 or 1:48 scale.

Yes, I was thinking about that too, couldn't think of anything though, if anyone got any thoughts on that, please tell me.

Now that you say so, it does look a bit like a m113, though I don't have too much money to spend, and I like to scratchbuild it myself, and time is a luxery I do have at the moment, since my exams will end this week I have 3 months of holiday, so that's not a problem.

I like the design of the vehicle, but it looks way too small. Remember, you've got to fit a driver, a gunner, a turret gunner, some space for them to enter and move about the vehicle, and THEN enough space for 12 minis.

it currently looks WAY too small for that. Take the design and bump the scale up a bit, and it will look great.

It does look a little small on the photos, but it's actually the same size as a chimera.
