Having made some Gue'vesa, I wanted a suitably hybrid transport, so a simple conversion of a Chimera with Tau weaponry, communications array and livery and the Coelacanth is born! Just need to put some tracks on it and put the commander back in (broken off in our recent house move)

Can't say that I'm a big fan of this. I like the paint job, but the model itself doesn't say, "Tau" to me at all. This vehicle just looks like a Chimera with some Tau bits just glued on. Aesthetically speaking, these two races are about as polar opposite in design as possible in the game. Tau commanders wouldn't deploy any troops in that. Something as clunky, slow, blocky, and obscene (from a design snob standpoint) would not likely make it into the ranks of a sophisticated, technologically advanced army. Orks? Yes. Tau? No.

Your work is good, but the idea was doomed from the beginning.

I think you've missed the point! The vehicle is a human Chimera retro-fitted with Tau Technology to support Gue'vesa (human helpers) in the field. You're right, Tau wouldn't use it, it's for people! Tau aren't going to adapt Devilfish for human use and then just hand them over, but they would adapt human-grown tech to better aid the Gretaer Good. Like with Vespid and Kroot weapons.

That's why I called it a Coelacanth - the Tau would view it as backward and rudimentary, but fine for their savage little human friends!

I completely disagree with the other poster, I think it's a great conversion.

Looks like a perfect fit for a human auxillary to a Tau army.

Looks good, although I'm not quite sure why you painted it and assembled it without the tracks...

Mercenaries can be hired by tau.. if an IG force goes renegade and joins the tau, it doesnt mean they get tau equipment. Usually, they bring their own weapons too, and its fair that they would retrofit what they could with what they believe to be superior arms, or easier to supply with ammunition. Prometheum and HB shells might be hard to come by, and the power supply for a ML may be incompatible with Tau tech, hence retrofit works.

nice job.

Well, aside from translations, humans could pilot a Devilfish just fine but yeah, as a fellow Tau player/commander (), I'd allow Chimeras, but I'd integrate more Tau tech than you have here. Try getting rid of all the rivets, making some parts curved, add the horizontal panel liens that are prevalent in Tau designs, integrate the weapons better, etc.
