Anybody have any 40k tattoos? Considering getting one/some?

I've just scheduled to get a Mark of Khorne with Khorne in small letters underneath on my chest (left pectoral) and Blood For The Blood God down the center of my back. Pretty excited, and I've already rehearsed my answers to "what is that?" to cover up my geek-ness Which should be quite often, since it's summer!

I have A LOT of tattoos, but i have been toying with the notion of getting the blood angels symbol tattooed on my chest.

Sounds cool, but I would consider the potential impact it could have on my love life first if I was you.

there was a guy that had an Aquila Tattoo. he lost a girl because of it. she thought it was some sort of Nazi symbol.

I've got a full shoulder pad done on my left arm with bullet holes, Crux Terminatus, and a few other bits of iconography. It's in my gallery, take a peek if you'd like.

Most of the girls I know find tattoos attractive.

Your example may be an extreme one, but I wouldn't want anything to do with a woman that stupid. Since when does an eagle = nazi? If anybody it's more USA or (even more accurate) Ancient Rome.

Cool! Do you get a lot of non 40k gamers asking you about it? What do you tell them? The bullet-holes with the wiring that looks like it's actually under your flesh is a great touch.

the aquila example is abit extreme(the double headed eagle is indeed a german icon)

but the words "Blood for the Blood God" might put off even more open minded women.

it would certaintly raise eyebrows for all who saw it. only fellow 40k nerds would think it was cool.

the Khorne symbol would be cool though.

Valid point, perhaps I should be a little more conservative and opt for Skulls For The Skull Throne!

I remember that story about about the Aquila, he took his shirt off and she saw it and thought it was the Iron Eagle. Apparently he tells people who ask that he is a Romanov. (Russian Royal Family, pre revolution) Though the Hapsburgs used it as well, and I think that Hohenstauffen but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

Met someone with a perfect Command And Conquer symbol on his arm. Who the hell gets a game, specifically a bad one like that, tatooed to their arm?

I'd do halo because it defined a generation, or 40k because it is so old (for a game) but CnC?

I have some tattoos and one big chest piece. For those that have never gotten a chest piece tattoo, it hurts a little more than a regular tat somewhere else. The breastplate is the killer. It was all good until the outline started there. Normally, the shading makes the area go numb, but not when it was on the dead center. And I have a decent pain tolerance.

I let out a slight groan and the tattoo artists asked me if I needed to take a crap... Lol.

As to 40k tattoos, I want some Dark Eldar glyphs done. Screw all that kanji crap.

Isn't it the hapsburg family symbol? They ruled germany for a long time along with some other places. But anyone with any history knowledge should understand what it is, and a simple explanation would allow your average person to seperate it from the nazis.

as soon as a german connection is made some peoples eyes will glaze over.

or, you get absolved of Nazi connections and then you get accused of having ties to a conspiracy theory.

I've toyed with it, I already have several tattoos that reflect the things I love (ie dragons, Thor, Japanese artwork, Marilyn Manson portrait, a family crest) I've always like Dark Elves/Eldar, so I'd probably do something related to them.

yep! but since i'm white as white gets, the scar tissue, which usually isn't as visible in tattoos, gives it a very faint pink look, almost like a brand.

Be careful about showing them in any Games Workshop because I once heard about a guy who had a tale of woe that I think you guy's should take heed of and it goes like this.

He decided to have a tattoo of an Aquila on the top of his arm and went to show it off at his local GW where he attended regular gaming events and somehow GW ended up taking him to court for copyright infringement! They were successful as well.

So if you decide to get some ink to show the world your love then be careful who you show it to.
