So here is my (unfinished) Dark Eldar 'Captain' so far. The majority of the model is red, however, i was looking for other peoples thoughts on the paint scheme, more specifically the loin cloth as it were. As you can see by the image, the cloth is a creamy colour, however i have painted a sort of tortoise shell theme onto the groin armour plates. Thoughts and opinions?

Looks really good. I'm actually kinda pissed. I've seen quite a few people choosing red as their primary color. Now I have to rethink things :(

Critique:

The red in the pic is not well defined from the base to the highlight. Whether that can be improved by some badab black in the recesses as a blacklining but less harsh to make the highlights 'pop' more.
The brown to bone works well as a contrast colour, as does the excellent job you did on the blade.
The hair needs to be a real contrast, be it ice blue, scorpion green or whatever. Draw out attention to the model.

I like it. I've gone with a simple weapon paint job, but that's due to my low level of painting skill...

Thanks to all for your comments.

To Waaagh_Gonads: Surprisingly the armour does have a wash of devlan mud, be it a very thin one, which i applied right at the end to help tie in with the scorched brown basecoat. However, i will say that this is my first attempt at painting a dark eldar model, and i have to agree that the armour does look a little, 'flat' i suppose. I agree on the hair needing to contrast more also, because at the moment its only up to a highlight of codex gray. I think i'll add another highlight or two. Your thoughts and opinions are greatly accepted.

Overall I like it. I agree you need to do a re-highlight over the wash to make the model really pop. The blade is extremely well done.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'm going to assume as well that the back banner is not going to stay black. Once that is done the armor will look better as well.

UPDATE:

I have taken on board all of the very useful comments all of you have posted (thank you to all), and here are a couple of updated pictures. The model itself is still a WIP, however i have added several washes of Devlan Mud into the recesses under the armour plates to make it 'pop' more. Also, i have added an extra two highlights to the hair: Codex Gray+ Skull White --> Skull White. Other additions include the bones on the loincloth, the combat drug emitter, a further few highlights to the edges of the rifle, and the banner has a base coat of Scorched Brown.

I guess my question really is, do the additional ink washes make the edge highlights stand out more to make it 'pop'?

( Edit: For those who are initially sceptical about the images in the post, click on the image and the ink appliance can be seen far better . )
