Hey all,
Been a long time reader of these forums but never actually posted anything. Well ive been modeling now for 15 years normally just for private gratification but decided it would be nice to share some stuff.

This is the start of my 3rd company Smurf army, *sigh more smurfs* you say hehe. But i like all the fluff Never played the 40k game despite the guys in my local store trying to get me into it, but love the models.

I like a rustic look on my marines as if they are in battle and getting their hands dirty.

Hope you like

Ian

Great work. I really like the level of battle damage you've gone for - it's not too over the top. Instead of them looking like they've just been caught in a nuclear blast (as can sometimes happen with 'battle damage'), it looks like they're slogging their way through a long, protracted campaign.

Very nice. I especially love the razor. My only problem is they seem to be a bit too dark, kinda encroaching on Crimson Fists territory there.Did you hand paint the symbols on the razor or are they transfers/decals?

Thanks for the nice comments :-)

The pictures are a little dark, the razor is a better reflection of the colour the are in real.

All markings are transfers. Done using gloss varnish > decal applied with micro set > micro sol (2/3 coats) > future varnish (2 coats/acrylic floor varnish) > then dullcote airbrushed when the whole model is done. If done correctly it's impossible to tell it's a transfer. The backing film disappears and the transfer literally dissolves onto the model.

Nice work. I was gonna compliment you on your transfers, but you've just said How It's Done (tm). :-)

You could perhaps work up to a fine edge upper highlight, or just keep that for characters to make 'em pop a bit, but it's looking ver' nice.
