Two weeks had passed since and the Order of Faith re-boarded their ship and returned to space. Without ship navigation, they relied on Farseer Ava for directions. Just as Ava promised, none her Eldar allies attempted to rescue her, fearing the consequences. Within thirteen standard terra cycles, their ships sensors detected a planet registered as Zeth, an Imperial death world, long ago abandon. After anchoring in orbit, Dianus assembled a strike team and made planet fall.
.....
Dianus sat uncomfortably next to Ava. She felt restless ever since the Farseer telepathically communicated a premonition of her foreboding doom. According to Ava, in order to prevent the Nightbringer from regaining full power, they must prevent Imperial forces on Zeth from discovering a Necron tomb. In doing so, it will save both the Imperium and Eldar from a greater threat and Dianus from her fated doom.
“Canoness,” informs a Celestian, “we’ve made contact with the Catachan XI Regiment. Their commander wishes to speak with you.”
Dianus put on her headset. “This is Canoness Dianus, commander of the Order of Faith,” she voxs in.
“Lieutenant Dams of the Catachan XI Regiment,” replies the Lieutenant. “My forces are conducting an inquisitorial mission. State your business or vacate this planet.”
The news of an Inquisitorial operation alarmed Dianus. Perhaps whoever was in charge knew of the Necron tomb and sent the Catachans.
“I demand you abort your mission at once. I have reliable intel that the ruins you are exploring is a trap,” informs Dianus
“Who told you about our mission?” ask the Lieutenant with suspicion. “Our mission is top secret.”
Dianus hesitate. If she told them she was working with a Farseer, they might condemn her as a heretic. If only she had Inquisitor Lord Antonio with her.
“I’m not at liberty to discuss my sources,” she replies.
“Then we are at a discord,” concludes Dams, “prepare for war Canoness.”

Played a 1300 points game against Imperial Guard. The last game I played against Imperial Guard was 4th ed codex when they still had cameoline. I've played games using the 5th ed Guard codex, but rarely any games against. I know what they are capable of in the hands of an experience player. Unfortunately, Guard is one of the most expensive armies in cost, which makes Guard players rare. The Guard players that I do know are either hooked on some other main army or just collect and paint models. In any case, I thought this battle report would be great for my stories and add to the list of
40k armies I've played against.

Afterthoughts:
.....
Dianus strode through the battlefield. Everywhere she looked, she saw burnt corpses of former Guardsmen. Their charcoal bodies were stiff and their faces masked in horror from being burned alive.
A sense of guilt filled Dianus. These were innocent soldiers following commands. They didn’t know their actions would cause great calamity throughout the galaxy. She often judged heretics by what they’ve done and not what they will do. What if the Farseer was wrong? What if the witch had deceived to further her own agenda?
“Canoness,” interrupts the Farseer, “I have something to show you.”
.....
After twenty minutes drive north, Dianus’s Immolator pulled over next to an abandon base. Dianus and the Farseer got out. Upon seeing the ruins, Dianus felt an odd feeling of déjà vu. Then it hit her. This was the exact setting as the one in her premonition. She slowly walk towards a crater. In the Farseer’s vision, this was where she died at the hands of the Nightbringer.
“Now do you believe me?” asks Ava.
Dianus nods in reply.
“Good,” said Ava. “With this planet known in your ships registry, you can navigate back to your forces. I’ve fulfilled my end of the bargain, now release me.”
Dianus thought it over for a minute. She could break off the deal and bring the Farseer back as prisoner. Under Imperial law, any deals with xenos was considered non-binding. However, the Farseer did save her life. Dianus felt a sense of honor to return the favor as a reward.
“Release her,” Dianus ordered her Celestians.
“But, but Canoness…” argues a Celestian.
Dianus gesture her to remain silent.
“Even if she is xenos, we owe her our lives. This is the least we can do.”
The Farseer nods approvingly and traces a line in front of her. A crackling portal opens up.
“May this be the beginning of a new friendship between our forces,” said Ava.
“Don’t count on it,” spat Dianus. “Now run along witch before I change my mind.”
Ava smiled to herself, knowing what waits in the near future. With a final bow, she entered the portal and disappeared.
