i just got the tyranid battleforce and it is literally my first WH40k purchase so i am extra nubsauce and need help on the assembly aspect

there are a lottt of pieces and they all look kinda the same:(
so if anyone could post like pictures of the 'sprues' (i think those are the like i guess sheets that all the pieces come in) that say what pieces go to what model type
the easiest thing i was really thinking of was just like color coding pictures of them in photoshop or something

though im kinda realizing now, who is gonna have a pictures of the sprues lying around XD
but idk, just askink

i somehow havent managed to find any tutorials online so if anyone has a link to a goodone that would also work
thanks everyone :O

Its for the most part easy. There's only a couple pieces I'm confused with myself (just recently picked it up, in assembly process)
The two "joined" sprues with the... piles of crap? on them are the genestealers.
The three sprues with what looks like a ribcage on them that have two heads on each sprue are your three tyranid warriors, one per sprue, with a switchable head for them, plus one model for part of the ripper swarm and a... series of venomous barbs. Im not sure what the barbs are for yet.
Then there should be one sprue with EMNORMOUS weapons on it. These things are I swear the largest single model pieces in the box. These are weapon swaps for your wariors... I think.
Then there's four sprues of 4 hormagaunts each. These are noticable by the higher hanging arms and the series of 8 claws in the center of the sprue.
Then there's the 4 sprues of termagaunts and 6 sprues of weaponry for them. The Termagaunt sprues have fleshborers on them, and the weapon sprues have devourers and spinefists on them... and what seems to be extra caraspace pieces, toxin sacs, and adrenal glands, and a ripper swarm piece. I might be wrong on the sacs and glands. That's actually a personal question of mine.

As for assembly instructions, the side of the bottom half of the box has the assembly instructions all around it, and the games workshop website has stage-by-stage assemblies for all of the models in the kit.

But seriously, for a more experienced 'nid player... wtf are the venom barbs for?

Those barbs are flesh-hooks, they arnt used as a upgrade anymore.

Most of the weapon options and upgrades are pictured in the codex.

They are? Are you just talking as part of the painting/artistic section? Because I would love to have a "this is what weapons look like" section like there is in the SM codex.Which I can't seem to find.

Using the images on this page: http://bitzbarn.com/oscommerce/catalog/index.php?cPath=27_72_424
From the Top:

Tyranid Biomorphs Sprue: You should have 1 of these for the 3 warriors, plus several more for your termagaunts, possibly 6, just guessing I havent seen the inside of the new battleforce. The larger guns are Devourers, the 6 smaller guns are spinefists.

Tyranid Carnifex Sprue 1,2,3: You wont have these

Tyranid Gargoyle Sprue 1,2,3: You wont have these

Tyranid Genestealer 1&2: These may be connected together in your box but prolly not. You should have 2 of each containing 8 Genestealers total.

Tyranid Hormagaunt Sprue: Self-Contained, 4 Hormagaunts per sprue, you should have 4 of these for 16 Hormagaunts

Tyranid Monstrous Arms: You will have at least 1 and perhaps 3 of these, they contain the Barbed Strangler and Venom Cannon options for your Warriors. Not sure wtf is up with those big- scytals and hands tbh.

Tyranid Ravener Sprue 1,2: You wont have these.

Tyranid Termagaunt Sprue: Semi-Self contained, these have 4 Termagaunts, with fleshborers for each. You should have 4 of these for 16 Termagaunts. Termagaunts may be configured to use the Devourers from the Tyranid Biomorphs Sprue at the top of the page, if you wish.

Tyranid Trygon/Mawloc Sprue 1,2: You wont have these.

Tyranid Warriors Sprue: You should have 3 of these, contain 1 Warrior each, incl Scytals and Deathspitters. Couple head options. The bits that look like 3 spines or harpoons are fleshhooks, not currently available on Warriors. Warriors may use Devourers from the Tyranid Biomorphs Sprue at the top of the page, if you wish.

I see 6 of these in my box. that means 6x3 = 18. Being that there are 16 termies, looks like you're out 1 dev/spinefists if you wanted all your Termies/Warriors to use the same weapon. Entertainingly, it also does not show the devourer in any part of the installation instructions for the warrior on the side of the box, so it looks like it might just be 2 extra guns for no reason, with the warriors being an oversight.

Tyranid Genestealer 1&2: These may be connected together in your box but prolly not. You should have 2 of each containing 8 Genestealers total.

These are connected. What are the steaming piles of mouthy things?

In my YMTC thread, the GW events coordinator said that they're for the Carnifex/Hive tyrant 3rd edition. *shrug* don't know why they didn't make a dedicated sprue for the battleforce, but I assume you could convert the massive scything hands for a lictor, and possibly use the rending claws for the warriors as well (and actually, the box shows you using both of these as options for installation on the warrior.

Tyranid Warriors Sprue: You should have 3 of these, contain 1 Warrior each, incl Scytals and Deathspitters. Couple head options. About those devourers (see top of post for laughs)...

well damn that was amazingly helpful
y'all are awesome!
after another half hour of google searching it finally gave me the individual model type instructions on games workshop site, don't know how i didn't think of that before

but the sprue walkthroughs were just amazing and will make this soooo much simpler

i honestly expected to get absolutely nothing from this (who is gonna just have that stuff lying around to check ya know? though i again didnt think of the selling sites like listed above) so this worked out spectacularly

it makes me feel kinda good to since it seems other tyranid players learned a little from my topic as well

so yeah, thx again everyone

oh! i assembled one genestealer with scything talons and i love it! its the first model i've ever built and just woah, i feel so much pride even though its not that good XD

Get some pics up! Lol, there have been a few times I have put things up that I expected to be dismissed out of hand, and they turn out to get a great reception. The community on here will help by giving advice or suggestions too, if you're interested in it. We tend to want each other to improve.

Hey, congrats on starting in on your Battleforce! I just finished putting mine together, having never put a model together before, and I think you'll find that it gets easier as you go on. Just take your time with each one and don't try to rush; they will get done regardless and if you take the time, they will look great.

Where painting is concerned, I suggest working on small batches at a time... Personally, I built all the models before painting any, then worked on 5-8 at a time in an 'assembly line' method. I very much recommend priming with a decent spray primer: I tried some primed and some unprimed, and the primed ones are significantly easier to paint!

So, enjoy yourself and take as much time as you need to do each model, they're much easier to build 'perfectly' the first time as opposed to having to tear them apart later to try to fix a rushed job. Have fun!!!

I don't think so, but you don't need it anyway.

I like the color scheme! I use the same colors on my space marines.

If you just added a wash of gryphone sepia or devlan mud, I'm sure it would make the colors pop.

Washes are basically thinned-down paints that you apply to a model after painting to give you shading effects. They pool in the deeper areas (such as cracks in armor, eye sockets, etc.) making them darker, while still leaving the rest of the model relatively light.

Correct, the best washes in my opinion are the ones made by Games Workshop. I would definitely recommend getting Badab Black and Devlan Mud
