So my armies list is pretty broad, I basically play anything except the specialised Space Marines (Blood Angels, Grey Knights etc) and Dark Eldar, though with the latter's recent new codex and fabulous new models, I may have to give in to another army (if I can do it without prompting a divorce!). Anyway, Chaos is a great opportunity for conversion basically down to the subject matter - either daemonic gifts, possession or daemons themselves are all chaotic (i.e. random) and utterly mutable, so limited only by imagination, tools and ability. Chaos Space Marines benefit not only from their own product line but can also borrow from Space Marines and Daemons directly, and both they and Daemons can nick bits of almost any other GW line and many outside. Here are some of my various WIPs;
1) Nurgle Chaos Dreadnought
Nurgle's a favourite of mine, and I really wanted a Dreadnought dedicated to the Grandfather of filth. I got a Assault on Black Reach Dreadnought with some other stuff I bought off ebay, and basically attacked it with plastic glue and sculpting tools, adding green stuff and other components as needed - a Defiler plate & mask, scratch-built cleaver, chaos vehicle bits, chaos space marine backpack parts and an Orc totem with wine foil and wire banner.
2) Nurgle Daemon Prince
Half LOTR Troll and half Inquisitor Space Marine, plus Balrog sword hand, defiler mask, Nurgle Greater Daemon horns and various spiky bits, grafted together with much pinning, superglue and green stuff, my fallen Space Marine who has risen to daemonhood through the gifts of father Nurgle is here. unfortunately my recent house move snapped off lots of bits, so I need to find and add them back, plus increase his nurglification level and paint him (the current basic basecoats just done to play him).
