I've been building up some custom chaos raptors, been hacking up the old pewter models I had before the finecast went down. Thought about the fine cast, but its too much of a hurt on my wallet. Ebay's well is dried up right now, and when they were all over the place I was broke. Now I'm looking to get some more and finish my squads of them. I love the feet that the pewter mini's have. But they're pewter models, and I'm not quite well enough equip to handle them properly. Been taking a hack saw to them and it's brutal. Are there any good alternatives from other collections or games that I could use in place of them? Particularly for unique characters, and models in general.

Every one of them is set to look a little different from the kit bashing/repositioning I've done. Wings, other wings, jump packs, other jump packs.

humm, then you could also attack a box of tyranid gargoyles... that again is expensive.

I have 10 night lord shoulder pads, that I would sell to you for $10 +shipping (its what I paid, i was planning on converting the raptors I had but completely forgot that they come with "convenient" pauldrons pre-mounted)

Apart from the obvious solution of kitbashing onto plastic bodies (which are closer to the base, and way the heck less top-heavy.)

Another option could be to learn how to fiddle with plasticard. Slice off the front vents on the loyalist packs, and mount some plasticard and GS work to convert the other end of the loyalist pack over to a similar style to the traitor ones. You won't get it identical, so the different look will be there..

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

I have my jump packs already selected, wings aren't a problem. Everything's angelic, so Night Lords are out of the picture, and so are the Gargoyles. I just got a couple of the new Scourge wings. And they're beautiful looking.

But what I'm looking for mostly is the clawed raptor feet, alternate models from similar ranges that would have something like that maybe. Or a cheaper alternative to that. If you look at the pictures, I've gone and hacked them off the pewter ones.

Forgive the pictures, they were taken with my cell phone.

I've been combining the Sanguinary Guard with the Possessed Sprue with FANTASTIC results. Buy yourself a squad of possessed, a squad of sanguinary guard, and a pack of plastic jump packs. You'll have a squad of badass models. Need meltaguns? Either use some you have from regular CSM boxes or just improvise. Use the inferno pistol from the sanguinary guard as a meltagun [there are no inferno pistols in the chaos book - what else could it be?] and the possessed arm that looks like a giant gout of fire being shot from his arm - bam, two meltaguns!

I'm already doing that actually. And I just won 10 of those arms on saturday night, like 3 bucks on ebay. Between using them as that, and lopping off the fire bits and sticking them on some of the jump packs as propulsion I'm set with that.
