I have had the model Primed and assembled for nigh a year. I looked at the picture of my army (all painted) and saw that black lump staring at me wondering why it had to be different from it's brethren. So I finally sat down at my table and commenced painting it. After about 6 hours spread over 3-4 days it was finished. I have an RTT coming up and I am including it in my list so I figured I wanted it to be tabletop ready. Funny thing is that my friend and I are the only players who have our armies painted...well at least to some type of standard. If we were to get points for paint we'd win hands down every tourney.

Again, stunning work man. Really impressive.

The boney-yellow goes really nice with the purple.
Good stuff!

This might just be me, but that gold doesn't look like gold... May I ask how you did it?

Hey appreciate the feedback! I guess the more I paint and get help from Dakka and my buds the better I get. I have been going back and touching up my first paint jobs and bringing them up to par with my new stuff.

Gorgeous paintjob, great colour scheme that really compliments the design of the tank. An impressive centrepiece for your army.

Well to answer your question. It is gold...well partially. I basecoat all of my gold bits and pieces with snakebite leather or Vomit brown first and then give them a couple thin coats of burnished gold. I then generally go back and highlight with bleached bone and sometimes a spot of white here and there. Also prior to highlighting I wash just over the gold with Gryphonne Sepia. You can really blend it well by doing the base/gold/highlight then wash it and highlight again.

When we actually gild things in the shop we generally coat them with a tan or brown first and that way after we apply the size and the gold if there are any small areas we miss they blend in with the gold tones.
