Just wanted to know your opinions about how could this be painted. It's the main Skulltakers (WE warband) color scheme, from GW. Many thanks! ^^

Yep. Spray red, do the details in bronze and bone then wash with devlan mud (or whatever).

Ok. I just wondered how did they got that metallic, blood red. Thank you! ^^

Metallic red could have been done by painting the whole thing Mithril Silver, then washing repeatedly with red washes - it looks fairly dark so they'd probably have had to custom make a wash from Red Gore or something. Alternately, just mixing Mithril with Red Gore or what have you could provide a similar effect.

You could also do this with red + a diluted metallic ink, no?

There's also a very small amount of teal wash in the metal, to give the tarnished bronze look in the corners.

Or just buying metallic red paint...

You can also muy metallic additives that you can add to regular paints to make them metallic.

Hard to tell on my work monitor, but the posted pic actually looks like the whole thing has been painted gold and then the red parts washed with a few coats of red ink.

Sigh, there USED to be a place across from my job that was an R/C car specialty place. They carried a ton of testors model master spray cans, all sorts of metallic colors. I wish they were still around, they had all sorts of neat stuff that would havw worked well for this sort of application.

That being said, as Insaniak said, there is a stationary store near me that also sells both metallic and pearlescent pigment powder you just add to the paint. They are like $3USD apiece.

Liquitex, as well as valejo, makes a metallic medium. Just mix it with whatever colour you want and you are good to go.

As a side note, you can paint that miniature with a brush 8P

Liquitex Iridescent medium:

An 8oz bottle should be more than enough for an entire army.

Vallejo metal medium:

May need two or three bottles depending on how much you are painting.

Okay my 2 pennies worth. I would uses washes over a metallic base, I have recently moved away from GW Washes and have started buying Liquitex Acrylic Paints in Tubes. (£4 per tube makes about a litre of Wash!)

http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/The_Secret_Ingredient:_Paynes_Grey_%28by_Iffy%29 Here is a good tutorial on making your own Liquitex Paynes grey wash, i followed it to the letter and it worked really well. I now have Burnt Umber (A Red/Brown tone) they work out cheaper, but you need Distilled water and Flow Enhancer (Or Glaze Medium) to make your own Washes. I bought 10x 50ml Bottles off ebay for £3. I make my own washes in batches.

With this I went to Les Bursleys site Awesome Paint Job, and followed his instructions to make Ink based Washes. Now I am loving painting like never before, mixing up batches of paint, experimenting with Retarder, Glaze Medium, flow enhancer etc (all from the Vallejo Range).

I would spray him a coloured primer and paint him with Tin Bitz (if you still have some!) otherwise something like Chainmail or Boltgun / Gun metal. Then wash him repeatedly with a Red Wash (Make it thin) and do it alot, I mean alot. I use a Daylight bulb on mine, it dry's quickly so be careful, I can put on 2/3 washes an Hour using this technique.

Background says these CSM have the obssesion of polishing their armors with dust from their enemys's bones, so it would have a metallic red like that. The borders of the plates can be both in brass or simple metallic silver.
Well, I'll try the two theories: red ink washes over metallic/bronze or custom meatallic red wash. I'll also try Vallejo paints. The thing is that I would like to paint some chaos termies (and could be even Zhufor) with this scheme, and I don't have many spare figures for trying apart from some loyalist SM :S
Well, many thanks to you all! ^^ If you have more advices, always welcome!
