I was picking around the new reading stuff... and I was then stoped at 1d4chan to read about Sisters of Battle ( lot's of funny jokes so I went to see about Sisters ). And there I found a list of major Sister defeatsa and I was wondering can someone please tell me in what books or whatever are those incidents and battles mentioned. I will paste list and add in brackets for those that I know of.

-A whole order was killed by Necrons. [ Sanctuary 101 ]

-A whole Order turned to Chaos by one Slaaneshi Keeper of Secrets. [ Don't know about that ]

-A whole Order Mind Controlled by one chaos Psyker. [ Don't know about that ]

-A strike force of Celestians and an Inquisitor being killed, cannibalized, and sacrificed by the Sons of Malice Astartes chapter for disturbing their victory rites and falsely accusing the chapter of heresy. (Imperium does nothing......apart from declaring them heretics anyway.) [ This was just disgusting ]

-A whole Commandery being killed by Flesh Tearers Astartes chapter (who were eating allied milita at the time). (Imperium does nothing.) [ 3'rd war for Armageddon ]

-Three whole Orders killed by the Space Wolves Astartes chapter when they try to inquire about that ship full of unarmed priests the Space Wolves shot down earlier. (Imperium does nothing.) [ Don't know about that ]

-A whole shrine-world of Sisters killed by Chaos Dreadnought. Said dread shrugs off meltas, meltabombs and multiple Exorcist volleys, a Living Saint even gives up her divinity to stop it, and fails. Its destroyed instantly when a Marine throws a hammer at it. [ This looks like some of M.W. fluff, I must read this ]

-An entire Order of Sisters of the Order of the Sacred Rose dying and ultimately destroying their base and everyone in it, who were sent to the Kaurava Campaign and killed by Vance melon-fething Stubbs after they refused to feth off. [ DoW Soulstorm ]

-An entire convent of Sisters killed by Grey Knights, their bodies violated and their blood applied to the Grey Knights' armor, so the Grey Knights could acquire a Daemon Sword. Unlike a few examples on this list put here for comic effect, this one actually happened; see also: Khornate Knights. [ Biggest FAIL in fluff I have ever read ]

Why so much hate for Sisters?

its 4chan, don't belive it.

look up Lexicanum to see if any of these events actually happened.

as far as the GK incident, you are blowing it way out of proportion.

only a few sisters survived the bloodtide before the GKs showed up. the Sisters might have actually been willing sacrifices, it is something they would do without hesitation. it also jives with the established fluff that the GKs will stop Chaos at ANY cost.

I don't know about most of them, but your information is horribly wrong on the last example.
As Templar said, if this information is from 4chan, dismiss is it and look for the actual texts, it's guaranteed to be over-exaggerated on that website.

to be honest 99.99% of times the sisters are just annoying zealots.

didnt say your prayers before eating? HERETIC!

Jaywalking? HERETIC!

Sneezing? HERETIC!

you get the idea bottom line most of the time unless you point in the direction of the enemy and say "heretic" theyre just trouble

also both your examples with canniblism is wrong 1st one the astartes were eating the flesh of the enemy in ritual thingie inquisitor gets a rod up her arse and decides its heresy in this instance their just sacrificed and in the other one the one with the flesh tearers the flesh tearers only attacked the millitia

And that is why an asking, I don't know much about some of them happening. Besides 3'rd war for Armageddon, Sons of Malice incident, Sanctuary 101, DoW and GK codex I don't know any other. And even the Lexicanum don't have much information about that ( for SoB there are only 4 battles, none of with have this accidents involved ).

And besides being funny and all I didn't see any false info on 4chan thus far...

yeah, the GKs were actually trying to stop a Bloodtide.

a Bloodtide is basically a wave of blood. it causes those caught in it to either fall to an orgy of bloodletting or explode in showers of gore.

some of, most actually fell to it, the sisters survived and were resistant to it. the GKs showed up and needed a way to combat it without exploding themselves(they would explode as they couldn't actually be corrupted) and the sister's blood fit the bill.

they probably actually explained the need for it and the sisters probably willingly sacrificed themselves.

Like much of Mat Wards fluff, it usually gets horribly misinterperted. The Necron/BA bit actually never said they were fighting shoulder to shoulder. all it said was that they weren't fighting each other, likely they were seperated by a sea of nids. after it was over, neither could fight because of losses. if you drop the "Impromptue Alliance" bit out it actually is very reasonable.

It's not so much being false as being massively over-exaggerated to the point that the information isn't even clear. It's fairly obvious that you're using 4chan as a source for your opinions, which you shouldn't.

Again, it's over-exaggerated and mis-interpreted for the purpose of being humorous or as a place for neck-beards to vent their rage over trivial things.

It is stated that Sisters where able to endure Chaos corruption but not the GK? What, Sisters are more faithful and better protected then them?

So Draigo going around the warp slaying grater daemons and stuff is reasonable? GK get's eaten alive only to tore daemon after 5 minutes in his belly reasonable?
And the BA/Necron incident was described as: "forcing the two armies to break off hostilities and fight the common foe. The impromptu allance proves to be Tyranid undoing." And after that both armies where "tired" of battle and each allowed one to retreat?
When was the last time you heard Necron allied with someone to defeat someone, or even leaving someone to live?

they simply couldn't take the chance that they might fall.

-A whole order was killed by Necrons. [ Sanctuary 101 ]

-A whole Order turned to Chaos by one Slaaneshi Keeper of Secrets. [ Don't know about that ] There was a story ina BL magazine that told the story of an Order of Sisters that were investigating a greater daemon... AFAIK they weren't corrupted as such but they did end up dead barring 1 sister who they saved

-A whole Order Mind Controlled by one chaos Psyker. [ Don't know about that ]
Spoiler:
Last Stand in the Cain Series. The Psyker has the ability to control people though once the Sisters are free and they realise what they have done they kill themselves... unfortunately only 2 are freed from his control

-A strike force of Celestians and an Inquisitor being killed, cannibalized, and sacrificed by the Sons of Malice Astartes chapter for disturbing their victory rites and falsely accusing the chapter of heresy. (Imperium does nothing......apart from declaring them heretics anyway.) [ This was just disgusting ] The Inquisitors and the Strike Force attacked the Sons, the cannibalism wasn't warranted but the killing was

(Imperium does nothing.) [ Don't know about that ] It says nothing about them being killed just that they fought and the Ecclesiarchy withdrew

[ This looks like some of M.W. fluff, I must read this ]
Spoiler:
Fire Drake audio book: The daemon grows and feeds on conflict. It kills several Salamanders Terminators before a Saint sacrifices her Sainthood and holiness to weaken the daemon enough that it can be destroyed by one of the survivors

[ Biggest FAIL in fluff I have ever read ] IMO this is perfectly valid... the shield of the mind can only protect so much and the body can still be corrupted at any rate there should have been a bit more depth to clarify the event

Why so much hate for Sisters?

Anything in red or in a spoiler are my comments and... validations lets say.

Not in my opinion. Killing other servants of The Imperium to ensure success and survival is so very 40k it's ridiculous.
What's your point on the second part? No ones denying that The Sisters of Battle aren't used as scapegoats, we're merely criticizing the fact that much of your fact and opinion is derived from 4chan, and not from you actually reading the passages and books yourself and forming an individual opinion, and as Grey Templar has clarified, much of it is just the very base facts and not the important parts, or just wrong.

On that last one, their bodies weren't violated, and their blood was used as a reagent in a mixture which was then anointed to the GKs armor. And the purpose of it was to prevent from being afflicted by the physical effects of the Bloodtide, which I dunno about.

However, if all the GKs needed was an amount of pure blood - such as that seen in Sororitas of all sorts - then they probably wouldn't NEED to kill all the survivors to get enough blood. The Sisters I'm sure would understand and be grateful to have reinforcements, and would donate the blood needed. No sacrifice needed, as you don't need all of your blood to live, and it regenerates naturally over time.

That particular story seems to be written more for shock effect than anything else.

The Commandery and Flesh Tearers thing didn't happen like that. The Flesh Tearers were overzealous in killing the Orks, and simply followed through and killed the Guardsmen nearby. The Sisters witnessed this, but were not harmed, and they reported the incident after returning to base.

I've read about the battle of Sanctuary 101, but all the others I haven't even HEARD OF.

I believe the sisters escaped the attack by the flesh tearers who only managed to kill the civilians.

Gathering the Informations.

We actually don't know if the Sisters were actually killed in the Bloodtide bit.

And the whole Bloodtide thing, the Grey Knights were not doing it "to acquire a Daemon Sword". That's blending together Crowe's fluff and the Bloodtide and not getting any of it right.
They were trying to put a Daemon back into containment after the vessel it had been kept in for centuries was broken.

It's almost entirely likely that it will end up being like Vraks, where a decision was made that they were considered tainted by their exposure and beyond redemption so that they'd have been killed by the Sisterhood itself.

It's not that the information is false but it is presented in a way which skips the details...
E.g.
4chan-Brother random killed a Gargant using his awesome bolter powers!
Actual story-Brother random to call in an bombardement from an orbiting battle barge that utterly destroyed the Gargant.

And thanks to purplefood I have all the answers now, so all the incidents mentioned in 4chan did actually happened. Just not so dramatic, but still most of them where as it was written.

That's my point though...
4chan distorts things...
Treat it as propaganda... it has some truth but a lot of it is purpose built to make you think in a certain way.

Which is our point Coa, 4chan skewed the truth, hence why it isn't reliable. What you posted was fairly far from a good explanation of what actually happened in those stories, your info on The Bloodtide being very wrong.

Problem is that the text itself to the Bloodtide is rather ambiguous. In the book it says "They turned their weapons on the Sister", which to me sounds like "They just flat out murdered them"

1d4chan's unreliable? From the Games Workshop related stuff I've read there most of it seems to be correct, if a degree of "rage" is involved however. As previous stated, all the listed information is from fluff- though a degree of artistic licence, and Matt Ward nonsence applies. Killing guard and marine's the norm, giving the sisters a kick every now and then makes writer's feel ever so original- ie Matt Ward's love for the Ultrasmurfs.

4chan is basically all that is bad about the internet.

even if it contains correct information it shouldn't be belived. verify from another source that actually has some dignity.

If you read the Lexicanum pages for each of the six major Orders Militant - accessible through the main Sororitas page - you'll find that with one exception, they have more victories than defeats. Four of the Orders have no defeats listed.

The exception is the Order of Our Martyred Lady, which seems to REALLY like getting killed off in droves in fluff. I think it has something to do with their name.

Edit: Interestingly, the only current Sister of Battle special character, Saint Celestine, was also from that same Order Militant that kept getting massacred. And she's - in all likelihood - dead now. Relic armor from a long-dead Saint doesn't protect from massive nuclear reactions, I suppose.

Don't let Melissa see this, Kan.

God forbid we inject any sort of pragmatism or ruthlessness into her beloved "paragons of humanity".

Hang on a sec, let me get my Witch Hunters Codex out... I think there's a relevant quote...

Ah, here we are.

Codex: Witch hunters, page 2, The Ordo Hereticus

"The Sisters of Battle are shining examples of all that is good about humanity, the pinnacle of faith, devotion, and purity. As well as forming the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Hereticus, the Sisters of Battle also provide the fighting arm of the Ecclesiarchy, the monolithic organization devoted to the worship of the Emperor and the preaching of the Imperial Creed. Armed with the finest weapons and armour the Ecclesiarchy can provide, they are amongst the best and bravest warriors an Inquisitor can call upon."

Emphasis mine.

If that ain't a description of a paragon, I dunno what is.

It seems to me that GW don't like them a lot. Let them get slaughtered in few incidents ( some of them for idiotic reasons ) and they didn't update their codex for how long?
