DevianID droves yermom and I up from NJ to Grim Open in Long Island NY Friday after work we hit traffic so got there pretty late and still had to eat so I had to skip open gaming. Did have some really good ribs for dinner though.

Its been nice going back to Brother's Grim after all these years. I started playing 40k when I was a student at Stony brook and used to go to Brother's Grim. Nice store thy have there and they get upwards of 40 people for their RTTs so big 40k scene there.

Like to thank Brother's Grim and all my opponents and new people I met for a fun event. All and all it was a blast. Didn't get much sleep Friday to Saturday unfortunately so that was one of the low points.

He has a more shooty list then most so thinking this will be a hard match to win in kill points have to stop his berserkers from getting to me while taking out his shooting.

My Deployment nothing, roll everything but Alrahem's Platoon and Vendettas on turn 1 with vet squad in one of the vendettas and inquisitor taking their chimera.

Berts turn 1
One squad of oblits comes on the left along with a squad of termies. 10 man Chaos marines walks into the crater. Empty Rhino moves forward 12 with a Rhino full of Berserkers driving up behind it and to the right another full of berserkers rolls up with an empty rhino in front. Terminators hide behind the vehicles with some to the right and the second set of oblits to the right. Havocs come on on the hill and run.

My Turn 1
I drive on the empty chimera on the left to hide behind cover and the inquisitor squad comes on and gets in Manticore rolls on behind the inquisitor chimera with auto melta chimera beside it. Hydra rolls on to take cover behind the rock. Company command chimera, second auto melta vet chimera comes and the 2nd manticore come on in the right side behind the rock. Left Auto Melta Vet Chimera smokes.

Bert's turn 2
Termies on the left move up along with the Oblits on the left. Empty Rhino advances and pops smoke with the Berserker Rhino behind. Land Raider advances with an smoking empty rhino in front. Left Oblits fire at the left Manticore but wiff. Chaos marines missle the hydra and immobilize it. Termies fire at the hydra and stun it. Middle termies run. Havocs fire at the right manticore and immobilize it. Right oblits fire at the right manticore and wreck it. Right termies fire at the auto melta vet chimera on the right and stun/shake it.


My turn 2
The Vendetta with vets in it arrives on the left. Alrahem arrives on the far left and the infantry chimeras in the middle. Left Manticore fires at the oblits killing one. Inquisitor Chimera fires at the left smoked rhino and wiffs, auto melta vets and their chimera fire at the left smoked rhino and wiff as well. Left Vendetta fires at the Oblits killing one. Alrahem's pcs fires at the right oblits and kills one. Alrahem's Chimera fires at the havocs and wiffs. Infantry chimera fire at the right berserker rhino and wiff. Right Vendetta kills one of the left oblits.



Bert's Turn 3
Termies and oblit on the right move up. Left empty rhino moves up with the berserker rhino behind it. Termies in the center move up to the building. Termies on the right move towards Alrahem's chimera. Empty Rhino moves right in front of the infantry chimera providing cover for the berserker rhino behind. Left Oblits blows up the left manticore. left auto cannon termy fires at the vendetta and wiffs. middle termies fires auto at the hydra and wiffs. far right termies fire auto at alrahem's chimera and explode it killing a couple and they pass their rolls. havocs fire at the right vendetta and shake it.


My turn 3
Last vendetta arives on the left side. The two infantry chimeras on the right each move 6 away from each other. Right Vendetta turbos to the left. LEft Vendetta that just arrived fires at the last oblit but wiffs. Left vendetta with troops in it kills that last Oblit. Left auto melta wiff shooting at the emptry rhino. Hydra wiffs shooting at the left berserker rhino. Alrahem's squad kills the last Oblit on the right. Far Infantry Squad melta explodes the Empty Rhino in front of them. Other Infantry Melta wiffs at the right Berserkers Rhino.

Bert's Turn 4
Left termies move up. Left Zerkers get out of the Rhino and move towards the immobilized Hydra. Right Zerkers get out of their Rhino and move to multi assault the infantry chimera. Left termies shakes the left far Vendetta. Middle Termies and chaos marines all wiff in shooting. Right termies fires at alrahem's squad and kills one. Left zerkers assault and explode the immoblized Hydra. Right Zerkers wiff and shake one infantry chimera and take the flamer off and stun the other.


My Turn 4
Left shaken vendetta turbos into the corner. Inquisitor and auto melta vet chimeras move to fire into the berserkers. Right shaken Chimera moves 12 away from the terminators. The inquisitor plasmas and meltas from the vet squad reduce the berserkers by about half on the left side. Berserkers stun and immobilize the right closer infantry chimera.

Bert's Turn 5
Left zerks roll really low for difficult terrain and don't get that much closer to my Auto Melta vets chimera. Left lone terminator moves back into cover. Middle termies move up. Far left termies move towards alrahem's pcs. chaos marine missle and middle termies all wiff. Havocs explode the right auto vet chimera wounding all of them and I faill every save :(. Right termies finish off Alrahem's squad. Left zerks fail their charge to my auto melta vet chimera. Zerkers on the right explode the right infantry chimera killing a few. Infantry make their morale and sit in the crater.

My Turn 5
Vets get out of the far left Vendetta to fire at the lone right terminator. Far left Vendetta and close left vendetta target the 3 Terminators in the middle wiping them out. The far left Vets fail to kill the lone right terminator. Right Vendetta targets the right berserkers and the infantry target the right berserkers as well. CCS rolls up to melta the rhino. Auto melta vets and inquisitor w plasma warriors shoot the left Berserkers reducing them to one model and the Chaos sorceror. CCS Chimera explodes the rhino. Right Vendetta and infantry finish off the Right berserkers and the chaos sorceror.

I end up winning based on Victory Points.


MVP: Vendettas taking out oblits and termies as well as taking nice chunk out of berserkers.

Opps it did nothing: Manticores only got off one shot cause they got killed. (probably should have reserved them so they both at least got 1 shot.) 2 of them only killed 1 oblit.

Game Analysis
Was a hard fought game with shooty chaos. His shooty termies were actually pretty good vs me. Big thing was we totally forgot to put down objectives till like the last turn so totally forgot about them as since it was tertiary. So that was a huge mistake forgetting to put down the objectives so didn't go for them. Other then that probably should have reserved the Manticores.

Bert is a nice guy and he taught me a nice technique of putting a die by each unit after they shoot which I adopted so I can track everything that fires although it can be confusing as I use them for damage results and wounds. I will have to get some pebbles or something but this is a great way to keep track of what shot so you don't forget. Thanks Bert. Great game as well.

Sam's Deployment
Sam deploys 2 grey hunterto the left of the land raider w grey hunters, wolf priest + arjac towards the middle of the board. njal is in the back grey hunter rhino. First unit of long fangs is hiding in the rocks in the middle and the second is on the pile of rocks on the right with the last grey hunter rhino right next to them.

My Deployment
I deploy both Manticores on the left side in cover along with auto cannon melta vets in chimera and melta flamer vets to claim the left objective. Inquisitor with plasma warriors deploys in cover in the rocks. Vendettas are lined up in the middle prepared to turbo boast to the left. Lone Auto Melta Vet Chimera is on the right as I intend to reinforce them with Alrahem.

I scout turbo my Vendettas for cover first mistake of the game is I move one forward on the left to expose it to grey hunter meltas should have left some space in the corner for it.

Sam's Turn 1
Njal's Storm nerfs bs but nothing is close enough to be effected. Sam rolls forward 12 with the front Rhino and smokes. Njal's Rhino only moves 6 to use powers. Land Raider moves up 12 and smokes. Right rhino moves up 12 and smokes. Njal's powers get blocked by the Inquisitor hood. Long fangs manage to shake the middle vendetta which later turbos to the right.

My Turn 1
The shaken vendetta turbos to the right to get a cover save. Left vendetta moves to target Njal's Rhino. Melta/flamer vets move up slightly to shoot the lead rhino. CCS chimera moves right 6. Middle Vendetta targets the right rhino. Left Vendetta wrecks Njal's Rhino. Hydra immobilizes the other left Grey Hunter Rhino. Inquisitor plasmas fire at the forward smoked rhino but wiff. Manticores wiff firing at the Land raider only shaking it. Center Vendetta explodes the Rhino on the right and the Grey Hunters get out. Auto cannon and multilaser on the right fire at long fangs on the right killing the pack leader.

Sam's Turn 2
Njal's storm is the difficult terrain near him but no one is near him. Grey Hunters hop out of the stunned rhino and head towards the left Vendetta. Njal + Grey Hunters moves up. Land raider moves forward 12 and lets out Arjac + crew. Grey Hunters on the right move and run. Njal only gets off tempests wrath Left Grey hunters melta the left Vendetta and immobilize it. Land raider multimeltas the middle vendetta exploding it. Long fangs wreck the right vendetta. Left hunters charge the immobile vendetta blowing off some weapons and stunning it. Arjac and co charge the ccs chimera and auto melta chimera, wiffing on the auto melta chimer aand exploding the ccs chimera and the ccs stay.



My turn 2
Alrahem does not arrive. Left Melta flamer vets move 6 to burn and shoot some grey hunters. Left Auto melta vets moves up slightly to burn and shoot arjac's squad. CCS issues bring it down on themselves firing into the land raider and wiffs all shots hit but 2 fail to pen and the pen is cover saved. chimera flamer, hydra, auto melta vets, and inquisitor plasmas fire into arjacs crew killing a few. Melta flamer vets + their chimera multi laser fire into the grey hunters. This was a big mistake should have backed off as one squad is unlikely to do much to 10 grey hunters need to focus fire. Autocannon and multi laser on the right fire at long fangs again killing one.

Sam's Turn 3
Njal detaches and runs up to use his storm and powers. Njal's squad runs and spreads out to go to cover to objectives. Left Grey Hunters move to assault the melta flamer vet chimera. Arjac moves to throw his hammer at the auto melta vets chimera. LEft grey hunters melta the melta flamer vet chimera and blow it up and asasult the vets blowing them out. Grey Hunters on the right move on up. Middle long fangs split fire and wiff at the two auto melta chimeras. Right long fangs also qiff. Arjac throws his hammer + squad meltas and blows up the left auto melta chimera. Arjac and crew multi assault the auto melta vets and the command squad and wipe both out.



My Turn 3
Alrahem comes in on the right with pcs and 1 infantry chimera helping out to kill the grey hunters and the other infantry chimera going for long fangs. Manticores move 6. Manticores explode the Land Raider. inquisitor + plasma warriors + Hydra fires into Arjacs crew killing the last one its down to Arjac and the wolf priest now. plasmas die to overheats :(. Far infantry squad chimera kills a long fang on the right. Chimera flamers and pcs meltas and infantry all focus on the Grey Hunters on the right taking out most of them.

Sam's Turn 4
Njal gets the lightning storm. Left grey hunters move to melta a manticore. middle grey hunters spread out to take 2 objectives. Njal moves up. Njal storm lightnings the inquisitor but she makes her cover save going to ground. Njal's powers get blocked. Arjac and the rune priest hang out on the objective. Left grey hunters miss the Manticore. Right Grey hunters assault and shake the chimera.

My Turn 4
Manticores move slightly. Hydra moves 12 to contest objective. Far Infantry Chimera on right moves 12 and pile out on the objective. Other infantry chimera also moves 12 to fire at the long fangs. Alrahem gets out and so do the auto melta vets to fire at the grey hunters. Manticores take a chunk out of the grey hunters in the middle but 4 remain on objectives. Infantry squads kill off the remaining long fangs and the vets and Alrahem kill off the remaining grey hunters so I get those 2 objective.

Ooops it did nothing: Melta flamer squad didn't do all that much. should have pulled back with them so they were outside of 6 inch melta.

Game Analysis:
Really played like crap this game. Got headache (not enough sleep) and didn't feel so good from third worst pizza ever Poopa John's (worst being Saburros and second being Dominos) Made 3 major mistakes. First turboed the Vendetta on the left too close. Should have made room for it in the corner Second Melta flamer vets should have been on the right side of the rock near the objective. Third should have driven my Company Command Squad 12 forward and jumped out and used fire on my target on the smoked land raider turn 1. Even if I don't kill it it delays him some as he has to go around my tank and doesn't want to tankshock my meltas. Sam played it very well with no mistakes that I can see.

Sam is a nice guy and had a really good game we talk later about his list and various Space Wolf stuff since I am starting Space Wolves myself. He has some nice freehand on his tanks also especially the Land Raider. Will have to put up the photo later.

This is like the 4th asgard batrep ive read. I enjoy them.

Nice battle Reports. I always enjoy reading them.

The close ups Jeremy took with his DSLR came out fairly nice although one is a little blurry. You really should get one of your own. I been looking at getting a Canon 7D for our upcoming trip to Yellowstone. I haven't taken any trips to justify the cost yet. 7D might be a little out of your price range but a used Canon or Nikon DSLR with a macro lens should be better then your old Powershot.

Chaos Marines are still quite competitive. Good old dual lash with obliterators for fire support still gives most lists a good fight. The reaper auto cannon terminators is a nice innovation. I haven't seen that before.

I'd like to take more pictures but it is kinda hard to take lots of pics on a 2 hour time limit with you can't start a turn unless there is more then 20 min on the clock. I take pictures at the end of my turn usually and sometimes end of my opponents only. Really takes too much time to take more then that. Sometimes I forget being too into the game also.

I choose to reserve as there really isn't that much cover and its spearhead quarters so I want to be where he isn't. Vendettas with one carrying melta flamer vets and Alrahem's Platoon are outflanking.

He moves 2 Predators 18 towards the uper left corner. The Left Baal Predator moves to join them. 3 Rhinos/Razors move into the top left corner. The 3rd Predator moves to the left as well. Other 3 Rhinos/Razors move into the lower left corner along with the second Baal Predator and Dante with the Honor Guard

Left Predators move back some to the corner in a line. The left most Baal Smokes. Left Rhinos and Razor move forward and smoke. Right Rhinos and Razor move forward and smoke. Jump pack honor guard hide behind the Rhinos and Razors.

My Turn 2
Alrahem and 1 Vendetta carrying the melta flamer vets outflank on the left. Alrahem's Chimera lets Alrahem's pcs out so they can melta the Baal Predator. The Melta flamer vets also gets out to melta a Predator. The empty Chimera rolls on in the left corner and the Inquisitor and plasma get in. 1 Manticore, Auto melta vet chimera and the company command also roll on in the left corner. Alrahem issues bring it down on his own squad only immobilizing the Baal predator. Alrahem issues bring it down on the melta vets and they wiff firing at the predator. The vendetta fires one las cannon at a predator and wiffs. Infantry platoon multi lasers fire at predators but wiff. Single melta from infantry chimera also wiffs. Some multi lasers and auto cannons from the hydra at the left rhinos and razors also wiff. Manticore goes for the middle predator and also wiffs.

Chris's Turn 3
Predators turn around and shuffle to the left to get out of melta range. Assault cannon razors move back to fire at my outflanking units The rest of Rhinos and Razors rush my forces on the left with the jump pack marines following behind for cover. The forward two units of assault marines hop out to melta my vehicles. His turn of shooting is as bad as mine, Both Baals and a predator open up on the left Vendetat only getting an immobilized. 2 assault marine squads fire at my company command chimera blowing off the flamer.

My turn 3
The last two vendettas, the last auto melta vet chimera and the second manticore all arrive from reserves. The 2 vendettas outflank out the far right looking for rear shots on two predators and the auto melta vets and the Manticore arrive in the right corner. On the left the chimeras roll up 12 to flame and fire at the marines who jumped out but the company command chimera immobilizes itself on terrain. Alrahem's squad gets back in and their chimera rolls forward 6. The infantry chimeras also roll forward 6. Vets get back in the vendetta. Left Manticore fires at the corner of a second Rhino catching some Marines in the explosion killing a jump pack one and one Assault marine stunning the Rhino. Between the inquisitors plasma retinue, melta vets and melta ccs shooting. The forward assault squad is reduced to 2 and the second squad is reduced to 3. Vendettas take single shots at the rear of the two Preds. One wiffs and the other blows off a las cannon. Right Manticore fires at the the 3rd rhino in the line hoping to hit some marines too and kills 1 and stuns the rhino. Alrahem's pcs wrecks the baal pred.

Chris's Turn 4
On the far left the assault marines get out and move on to the objective moving towards alrahem's squad their Razorback rolls forward 12 towards the Vendetta. Other Razor moves up as well. One Predator moves to give the others cover from the 2 Vendettas on the right. On the close up left the 2 man assault goes for the auto melta vet chimera and the 3 man goes for the company command along with the jump troops. another assault gets out to melta the hydra and their shaken rhino moves away. The last assault rhino moves 18 to the right. Jump packs melta the ccs rhino. melta wiffs on the vet chimera. preds wreck the vendetta, alrahem's chimera and explode an infantry chimera. vets hop out the back of the vendetta and some infantry survive the explosion in the wreck passing their checks. assault squad fires some pistols at alrahem's squad but I make covers. Jump pack marines assault the ccs and auto vet chimera exploding the chimera and wiping the ccs.

My turn 4
The vets move through the wreck of the vendetta and I lose few to difficult terrain. Alrahem's squad moves toward the assault marines. Infantry chimera immobilizes itself on the vendetta wreck. Inquisitor chimera also immobilizes itself. vets and alrahem shoot at the assault on the objective reducing them to 2 guys. Vets finishes off the assault squad and inquistor retinue kill off all but 1 of the jump pack guys. Manticores fire at the clumped squad but both wiff. Vendettas on the right blow up one predator and shake another.

Game Analysis
I had to reserve because he was really shooty and there wasn't much cover in my corner at all. It being a table corner mission I thought I would react to his movement and it would allow me to arrive in the corners forcing him to split his forces.

I took a risk and went for his predators with Alrahem since he did not smoke with all of them. Mathhammer alrahem's squad should have killed one. the vets should have got a result on a second one and between multi lasers, infantry meltas and the vendetta las cannon I should have hit a 3rd one with a result. I totally wiffed with shooting and between missing and cover saves got 1 result the whole turn. His consequent shooting was also pretty terrible the next turn he wasn't rolling any 6's for his assault cannons.

The speed of blood angels is tough to counter their ability to move vehicles 18 as well as move 12 and fire one weapon and 6 and all weapons is pretty huge.

Arriving on the right and playing keep away probably was the better option hiding from his predators. But I almost always fail cover saves. Iin the end it worked out ok. I often take too much risk and opt for the aggressive option and it ends up biting me like it did here.

After round 3 Rich, Brad, Nick and I went to dinner with Bill Mcfadden and his club from Jester's Playhouse the Warm Fabric Nationals. Bill and his friends are pretty cool guys and we had a good time talking over dinner. I have to go to Jester's Playhouse RTTs or just to play sometime its not that far. I went once awhile ago.

Bill Mcfadden converted up some really cool Skaven Guard that I like alot.

I get another bad nights sleep and wake up with a headache pop some excedrin when we go to the begal shop. Get a mushroom omlette which is pretty good and a bagel and feeling slightly better but still bad. Hotel pillows really suck.

Nice conversions. I like her use of a mix of reaper model conversions for demon princesses and the like. My own demons uses some reaper minis and the inquisitor assasins for demon princesses. She also does the baking snow bases that I been doing for my wolves.

I reserve Alrahem's platoon because he must reserve and deploy everything else in my corner with the manticores in the rear and empty vet chimera w inquisitor retinue outside, auto cannon vets, hydra, auto cannon vets and ccs chimera all in a semi circle 12 inches from center with the vendettas slightly behind ready to turbo boast.

I make my scout moves with vendettas moving flat out moving two into the upper left corner and 1 into the lower right.

I move every thing up to take up as much of the board as possible to make it somewhat risky to deep strike large units like crushers and seekers close to me.

Alicia's Turn 1
Alicia rolls for wave and gets her prefered wave which includes the great unclean one, skarbrand, 2 demon princess, blood crushers, 2 units of seekers. Alicia contemplates to play it safe or go for and she decides to go for it. Great unclean one tries to drop between manticores and auto vet but scatters and mishaps and dies. First demon princess tries to drop in the same spot scatters off the board and goes back into reserve. The second demon princess hits though. Skarbrand drops in behind the building. Blood crushers drop by my company command squad. The seekers drop in to the left and the right of the ruin in the upper left corner. Demon princess fires at the rear of the middle Vendetta and blows off a las cannon. Skarbrand, Blood crushers and seekers run.

Alrahem's platoon does not arrive. Left vendetta targets the demon princess, middle vendetta backs up some and targets the seekers. Right Vendetta moves 12 away from the seekers and targets the crushers. Left manticore moves to target the left seekers. Right Manticore moves back and targets the right seekers. Right auto melta vets chimera moves forward away from the demon princess. Company command chimera moves back away from the Bloodcrushers. Left manticore and hydra fire at the Seekers killing a few. Left Vendetta and the vets and their chimeras along with CCS chimera focus fire down the Demon Princess. Right Manticore fires at the right seekers and kills a few. Company command squad fires their meltas at the blood crushers doing 2 wounds and the right vendetta also fires at the bloodcrushers but is invuln saved.

Officer of the fleet does his job admirably and only 1 demon princess drops in right by the crushers icon to not risk another mishap. Left seekers moves towards the center vendetta. Right seekers moves towards the right vendetta. blood crushers move towards the company command chimera skarbrand moves out from behind the building towards the company command chimera. Demon princess shoots at the side of the company command chimera and blows off the multi laser. Both units of seekers fleet. Left seekers assault the left vendetta and take off another las cannon and shaking it. Skarbrand and the bloodcrushers assault the company command chimera and explode it leaving the comany command squad in the crater after they make their pinning check. Right seekers assault the right vendetta and they wiff.

Shaken Vendetta moves flat out to the corner. Inquisitor chimera backs up as does the left auto melta vet chimera. Left vendetta targets the demon princess. Manticores move slightly. Far Right Vendetta moves to shoot the Demon princess. Left Manticore, Auto melta vets, inquisitor plasmas and their chimera and the hydra all focus on the left seekers and get them down to one model. Turns out the auto melta vet chimera flamer was a milimeter out of range. oh well. Both Vendettas and multi lasers from the inquisitor and right auto vet chimera focus fire on the demon princess getting her down to 1 wound. Right auto melta vets fires at crushers killing 1 and doing another wound. Right manticore wipes out the right seekers.

Last Demon Princess drops down by the crushers icon 1 unit of plague bearers drops by the upper left objective but scatters off. Last seekers moves to hide behind the building. Crushers move towards my right vendetta and run. Skarbrand moves to assault my company command. Both demon princesses try and shoot my right vendetta but one misses and the other fails to penetrate. Crushers run. Seeker runs to hide. Plaguebearers run to get on the objective. Skarbrand assaults my company command squad and kills everyone but the command and I roll insane courage to stay.

They call 20 minutes and we can't start turn 4 would have liked to see this play out as Alrahem hasn't come on and she still has 3 units of plague bearers and the flamers in reserve. Couple calls for judge and we both could have been playing faster. 2 hours really goes fast I really need more practice for Nova.

Vendettas really put the hurt on demon princess and Manticores did a good job killing seekers.

Game Analysis
All those games vs Rich, Grace and Nick playing demons really paid off. I played it well spreading out to make deepstrike risks yet being able to focus fire when I needed to. Officer of the fleet seemed to work great so far but I would have liked to be able to play a full game and see how it went in the end if she was able to make last minute objective grabs or not with the plague bearers. Made a couple mistakes. I could have judged distances a bit better as the auto melta chimera flamer was a milimeter out of the seekers on the left and I put my Vendettas a bit close to get assaulted and then turbo boasted on the right too close to the corner should have been slightly over so to retreat onto that objective and give room to retreat further if need be. Alicia is a newer player and was a bit too aggressive with deepstrikes but she had some bad luck with mishaps and not rolling many 6s with the seekers as well.

Alicia was very nice and we talked about demons art and freehand I totally drew a blank on what arcylic pens I used to do my freehand which was embarassing but thats what happens when you wake up with a headache and haven't had enough sleep. Next time I need to bring a pillow from home. We kept in contact afterwards which was cool. We both planning snow display boards for our armies with the help of Bob Evers my next round opponent who told us how. She is going to ETC with her husband Ben so good luck to both of them.

I recall finishing all 6 turns of our game at conflict. Time was an issue at this tournament especially due to the short round 2 hours with you couldn't start a new turn in the last 20 minutes so you had only 1 hour 40 minutes. Judge rulings ate alot of time in 4 of my games. In my game with Alicia we called the judge several times so they considered giving us more time but did not. I think they only had 2 judges and one often had to defer to the other. I'll admit I had a migraine and was tired and didn't play at optimal speed but I got in 5 turns with my first round oponnent and any game with a judge call we got in less. Will practice to play faster for nova.

Really nice reports, Kirika! I appreciate your posting these, even though I'm not a big IG fan. If I'm not mistaken, your army is looking nicer and nicer too. Looks like you've been doing more work on it over time.

I see you went 1/1 against team Girls Gone Chaos. Sam and Alicia are part of the same group of friends in the Boston area, and that was their team name in the Adepticon Team Tourney a couple of years back. The same crew have more recently been Team Pink Shirts, and they've won a couple of awards in that event. Wyatt Traina (Paintraina on here) and Ben Mohlie (Spacecurves, ETC captain) are the other two. I had to play both Sam and Ben at the Boston Brawl last weekend, and went 1/1 myself, though I managed to eke out the win over Sam and lost to Ben.

Bob's Deployment
Bob deploys a dreadnought behind the hill on the left and land raider with vulkan and 5 termies on the left with the other land raider with the 5 terminators and the librarian on the right with the predator in the cover on the right. He reserves both tactical squads and the land speeder.

My deployment.
I deploy the Hydra in the right corner with a Manticore behind the cover and the auto vet chimera right by the objective. The Ccs chimera deploys exactly across from the land raider on the left. I load up the melta flamers in a vendetta and put their chimera in the middle with the inquisitor with their plasma vets outside ready to get in. Other auto melta vets is on the right objective. Other manticore is behind for cover. Vendettas I deploy so they can scout move for cover saves so one is on the left corner and one is in the middle and one on the right.

I fail to seize the initiative.

Bob's Turn 1
Left land raider rolls up 6. Right land raider rolls up 12 and smokes. Dread fires at my left vendetta and wiffs. Left raider fires its assault cannon at my middle vendetta and the multi melta at my company command chimera and wiffs. Predator fires at my Right vendetta getting one shot in that is cover saved.

My turn 1
Company command chimera rolls up 12 and the company command squad jump out to melta the left raider. Left Vendetta moves to target the dreadnought. middle and right vendettas move to target the Predator. Inquisitor and plasma warriors get in the middle chimera and it rolls up 6. Company command issues bring it down on themselves firing at the land raider exploding it and a few of them are caught in the explosion and die. A terminator also dies in the explosion. Hydra fires at the dreadnought and wiffs. Left Vendetta shakes the left dreadnought. Left Manticore fires at the Right raider and wiffs. Right Manticore explodes the right raider. Right vendetta wrecks the predator. Middle Vendetta fires at the right terminators killing 1. Multi lasers from chimeras and auto cannons fire at some terminators but wiff.

Bob's turn 2
Bob doesn't get any of his reserves because the officer of the fleet is still alive. Dreadnought pops smoke. Left termies move to assault the company command squad and chimera. Right terminators Gate right next to my auto cannon chimera. Left terminators assault the company command squad and the chimera, they wipe out the company command except for the commander and stun the chimera. company commander runs away since terminators can't sweeping advance.

My turn 2
Commander runs again. Alrahem fails to arrive from reserve. Middle vendetta targets the left terminators. Inquisitor chimera moves to target the right teminators with plasmas. Right vendetta targets the right terminators. left vendetta blows off an auto cannon from the dreadnought Manticore, middle vendetta, hydra, left auto melta vets and chimera all focus fire on the left terminators and kill them. Right manticore, inquisitor with plasma warriors and the melta auto vets on the right focus on the right terminators and kill a few.

At this point Bob concedes. I've taken out most of his assault punch and his ranged.

MVP: Manticores got alot of hits and killed his raider and some terminators. Runner up: Vendettas killed vehicles and terminators.

Oops it did nothing: Alrahem didn't arrive from reserves.

Game Analysis: This was really a test of if I could kill the raiders before they got to me which I managed to kill the land raiders quickly and Bob rolled badly for terminator saves. Could have gone much different if I didn't roll well to kill the raiders early.

Bob is a nice guy and we chat a bit later he gives me advice on how to do my snow board for my Space Wolves

The thunder fire cannon moves on in the left corner to hide by the little bunker with half a tactical squa djoining them. The land raider moves 12 and smokes. Both razorbacks also move on 12 and smoke. Half a tactical squad moves on and hides behind the razorbacks. The razorback that was hiding behind the building moves forward 12 and smokes. Dreadnought meltas the auto melta vet chimera and destroys the multi laser.

Alrahem's platoon arrives on the far right side to claim that table quarter. Left Auto melta vet chimera moves up slightly to fire meltas into the dreadnought. Left Vendetta moves to target the attack bikes. Middle Vendetta moves to target the attack bikes. Right Vendetta also moves to target the attack bikes. Right Manticore moves slightly to target the Land Raider. Melta vet chimera on the right moves foward. Left Auto melta vets fire at the dreadnought wrecking it. Left Manticore fires at the Land Raider and scatters off and stuns the razor close to it. All 3 Vendettas fire at the attack bikes and between wiffing and cover saves don't kill a single one. Right auto melta vets fire their auto cannon and chimera multi laser at the forward left rhino but do nothing. Hydra also fires at the forward left rhino but does nothing. Right Manticore fires at the land raider and wrecks it.

Attack bikes move into the woods and both make their difficult terrain tests. Librarian tries to gate of infinity but is blocked by the inquisitor lord's hood so the terminators just walk. Left razor by the raider is stunned. Right razor moves 12 up. Far left tactical moves up and around the land raider and runs to congo line and get on the objective. Marines in the close Rhino get out to melta the company command chimera. left close Marines fire at the company command chimera and blow off the multi laser. Attack bikes fire at the vendetta and wiff. Terminators run. Thunder fire cannon fires at my far right Vendetta's tail which is over the Manticore. Ben says he can hit both but we call a judge and judge says only hits the vendetta if it scatters off it can hit the Manticore. He gets a bunch of hits but fails to roll any 6's to glance.
Left close marines multi assault the company command chimera and the auto melta vet chimera. They shake the auto melta vet chimera and wreck the company command chimera.

My turn 3
I forgot about his thunder fire cannon and the left auto melta vets get out and move into the forest to try and kill the attack bikes. Their chimera moves slightly over to make a gap for the company command to fire through. Vendettas move to target the pod/bikes. Manticores slightly. Alrahem's platoon rolls up 6. Company command issues fire on my target on themselves firing at the marine squad that destroyed their chimera killing a couple. Between the Veterans, all 3 vendettas firing at the bikes only 1 dies. Hydra fires at the Marines as well and kills 1. Manticores fire at the drop pod also hitting the last bike. One scatters off the other blows up the pod but the bike makes its save. Some multi lasers and auto cannons on the right fire at his razors and rhino but wiff.

Ben's Turn 3
Officer of the fleet still keep his 2 speeders at bay. Librarian tries to gate again but is blocked by the inquisitor so the terminators move up. Thunder fire cannon fires at the left auto melta vets and kills 7 of them but they make their moral. Razor moves up and Rhino moves. Marines on the ground take difficult terrain losing another to move through the wreck to multi assault. Missle launchers wreck the left vendetta. Marines multi assault the company command squad, manticore and the chimera killing some guardsmen wiffing on the chimera and shaking the manticore. Company command makes their leadership to stay.


My turn 4
left auto melta chimera moves into terrain to flame the bike. middle vendetta targets the thunderfire. left shaken manticore moves 12 away from the marines. right vendetta targets the last bike. alrahem's platoon. rolls up 6 avoiding the terrain. chimera vets and vendetta put 1 wound on the bike. other vendetta kills the tech marine. Hydra unloads into rear armor of the rhino but just gets a weapon destroyed and a stunned. Right manticore fires at the razorback by the terminators and stuns and takes off its bolter, terminators make their saves though. Marines fight the commander and kill a couple leaving commander but they stay.

Ben's Turn 4
Finally a speeder arrives and drops in the middle on the terrain and makes its difficult terrain. Razorback moves 12 to claim the middle objective. 5 Marines + vulkan get out of stunned razor and move up to assault the vet chimera. Attack bike moves to the side of the hydra. Attack bike blows off a set of auto cannons off the hydra. Multi melta speeder wrecks the middle vendetta. Missles go for the hydra but wiff. Marines + vulkan assault the chimera and explode it. Marines vs commander gets 1 regular hit commander takes a wound 1 left and 2 powerfist wounds but I roll double 6s to live and then make my moral.

20 minutes is called right as he finishes his turn so we can't start a new turn.

Results
We are tied on table corners with Ben taking the left two corners and I have the right two. Neither of us wins by 3 kill points. But Ben has 3 objectives to my 1. Alrahem was slightly out of 3 inches.

MVP: Manticores killed the land raider and the pod plus hit other vehicles+ Alrahem grabbed his corner like he was supposed to.

Oops it did nothing: melta flamer vets on the right really did nothing.

Game Analysis
Made a lot of mistakes this game. I was too afraid of that ironclad and should have just moved my vendettas on 12 and tried search light to shoot up his rhino to delay his Marines. Clustered to close to allow multi assaults although being close early was good to counter melta the ironclad when it showed up should have spread out a bit more. Right melta vet squad should have been in the middle to react instead of doing nothing on the right side instead it really did nothing. Vets should not have gotten out to shoot bikes instead should have backed up away from marines and moved command squad up to block. Should have fired the Manticores on the Marines hopefully killing some before they assaulted my company command. Should have moved Alrahem on 12 to start to get near the objective and then I would have been able to push for the center.

Ben is a good guy and we talked after. Good luck to him at the ETC.

Overall result: I finished 16th overall.

Thoughts on the tournament.
I had really good time and met some nice people that I've kept in contact with looking forward to the next one. Tournament was run fairly well. Three things they could improve is more judges and more time for games and not running late. Other minor nitpick was the felt table and the two tables pushed together with a crack in the middle was mildly annoying to roll dice on.
