Upon his return, Inquisitor Coteaz received word that the Doom Eagles, one of the Space Wolves allies, had just taken over planet Valladol. Valladol served as Formosa Planetary Defense Force’s headquarters. Losing it was a critical blow to Formosa’s defense structure. Seeing this as a great opportunity to test out his new asset, Coteaz sends forth the Order of Faith to recapture Valladol.

.....

Two days had passed since the Order of Faith made planet fall on Valladol. Canoness Dianus found it surprising her forces had so far met little resistance. It appears the planet’s locals were still loyal to Coteaz and offered the Doom Eagles little support.

Unlike the planet’s local population, Dianus resented Coteaz. She knew what the man was capable of. Even now She wonders after the campaign was over, will Coteaz honor his promise to Dianus and the Order of Faith or will it end in treachery.

“Canoness,” voxes in a Celestian, “the Doom Eagle’s fortress lies one kilometre ahead.”

“Good,” replies Dianus. She switches to channel audible to all Sisters.

“Sisters, whether Inquisitor Coteaz’s intentions are pure or not, we will fight with the noble purpose of liberating this planet from the rebel Astartes tyranny. May the Emperor carry us onto victory!”

.....

Spoiler:
Victory for Sisters of Battle!

Afterthoughts

Spoiler:
My opponent made a lot of tactical errors. During his deployment, he infiltrated his Scouts too close to my Battle Sisters. He also drove his Land Raider and Vindicator within melta-range of my Sisters.

Unlike the previous game, lady luck was on my side. Aside from the Seraphims fleeing off the table on turn 1, everything went as planned. I still can’t get over the fact that the Librarian killed himself after his Vortex of Doom scattered backwards. Oh the irony! If the game continued, I probably would have tabled my opponent.

.....

Dianus jumps back in nick time as a crackling power fist arcs in front of her. She dips low and presses forward. With a quick thrust, she lodges her Eviscerator into the Terminator’s sternum and activates the power saw. Monomolecular razor sharp teeth easily cut through Terminator armor like hot knife through butter. Within seconds she saws through the Marine’s black carapace and shredded both hearts. The massive bulk slumps to the ground in a pool of blood. ‘Last one down, now for the leader’, she thought.

“No Prisoners!” booms a deep baritone voice. A second later, a female scream cuts into the air, but is silenced shortly after by a wet “thump!”

Dianus turns around and sees the Doom Eagle’s Chaplain pulling free his bloodied Crozius Arcanum from Sister Valencia’s breast. From the looks of it, the Celestian was severely wounded and had signaled her surrender, but the Chaplain had crudely executed.

Anger burns in Dianus’s heart. She steps forward with her Eviscerator raised before her. The Chaplain laughs and accepts the challenge. He goes on the offense, charging straight towards the Canoness. Dianus swings her Eviscerator around, but hits an invisible force shield emitted by the Chaplain’s Rosarius. The Doom Eagle’s spiritual leader slams his Crozius Arcanum into Dianus’s side. Pain flares and she loses grip of her chain blade. With a sharp kick, the Chaplain pins Dianus to ground under his boots. He raises his Crozius Arcanum and readies to deliver the final blow. Suddenly a rocket flies out of nowhere and slams into the Terminator Chaplain. The missile sweeps him off his feat straight into a rockrete wall. The warhead explodes sending scraps of ceramite, plasteel, and burning ligaments flying everywhere.

.....

“Congratulations Canoness. You have cleansed Valladol of the traitorous Doom Eagles in record time. With you on my side, victory is within my grasp!” exclaims Inquisitor Coteaz.

Dianus winces as a Hospitaller stitches a deep gash in her side.

“It’s too soon to celebrate Inquisitor,” replies Dianus. “Our strongest foe awaits. I have fought many battles against the Space Wolves. They are formidable and ruthless.”

Coteaz chuckles. “Canoness, you underestimate me. In time you will learn there is none more ruthless than me.”

I actually really like that SM list, it is a cool mix imo thought it has got to be hard to win with.

Did he pickout your Canoness in the CC (the Chaplain) or did you allocate the wound to her? Just wondering since she is not an IC yet.

This one was a bit foregone though, with 3x Exorcists against a MEQ list which SoB tend to crush anyway.

Nope, I always remind players they cannot single out Canoness when joined with Celestian Retinue in assault. I fear they might change this in the next white dwarf codex.

Nice BR, once again !

I laughed when Seraphims left the battlefield, because I remembered when it happened to me last time...
But looking back the whole game... Your opponent suffered enough without them. I can't imagine if you managed to keep and use the Seraphim against these poor marines.

It is interesting to see some various SM units in a same army. But it is a harsh bet, in tournament, I suppose.

(Oh and definitively, I really dislike Coteaz... - I already ate him 3 times with my tyranids against my GK mate, but it seems he's still alive ! è_é )

Surely, they will.

I am sure they will change that rule in the next codex which means more instant splatted Canonesses will be gracing our tables!

Po' marines. Didn't stand a chance at all despite you playing basically without your seraphims.

Speaking of seraphims, I still have nightmares about them from the last time we played (against my GK's)....

Looking back, I cringe at the mayhem and slaughter I inflicted on my opponent's army. I hope this game serves a valuable lesson to him what it's like playing at a competitive level.

Well, there is Mantle of Ophelia upgrade, but that's a one time use.

My Exorcist did a lot better this time around.

And I still have nightmares after you pinned and later wiped out my all my Seraphims in the WH vs Nids apoc game.

Seraphims won't be as threatening once they get redone in the next WD codex.
