So, inspired by the other thread on Finecast, and whether or not heat knacks it, I've decided to see where the truth lies.

To be fair, I'm only in a position to do this because despite living in South East England, today has been a mentally hot day. And my mates car was parked at work all day, in direct sunlight.

'What in the name of satan's throbbing portion is he gibbering about now?' I sense you think. Simple. I have a Finecast model, namely a Liche Priest* and tomorrow, it's getting left on my friend's dashboard to see if the tempratures we're experiencing in South East England are enough to actually, physically melt Finecast, or indeed affect in any way whatsoever.

And as for that little Asterix? Well, that model, the Liche Priest, has been especially chosen by myself as one of the spindliest Finecast models I actually need for my armies. True, Lelith or perhaps Urien might be spindlier, but I have them in metal, and I'm not daft enough to buy a model just to prove/disprove something.

So, stay tuned my lovelies, to see what happens!

P.S. This is in no way scientific, for one, the weather being as good as it was today, being the same tomorrow is quite the act of Faith in England, but also, I don't actually have a thermometer, so I'll be linking you to here for the rough idea of the external temprature. Whilst I can guarantee we won't be the hottest place in the world, it's the best I can do. Plus, I'm very deliberately leaving it in direct sunlight, completely unprotected, from 8:00 a.m (ish) until 4:30 p.m. (ish) which is when I start and finish work. My lunch is at 12 p.m. (dead on, it's my lunch) and I'll endeavour to make notes and that, and even supply some photos in my patented crap-o-vision (aka my mobile phone camera) to show it's general state.

And I invite others to follow suit, so one way or another we can lay this particular topic to bed.

Oh, and if tomorrow's weather turns out poop (which wouldn't be entirely surprising) I'll rinse and repeat until we get another scorchio day. So brace yourself petal...this could take a while.

I will try to do a similiar experiment in Saint Louis once i get my first finecast...because here it is always around 100 farenheit(i think around 35 Celsius?). I predict that they will be fine though!

I would warn away from predictions.

Can anyone better versed in resin advise whether general humidity would have an affect of it's own, or is it just heat that is the main problem to expect?

Nope. But if you have one anyway, I invite you to join in.

Choice of model is important. Consistency would dictate that the Liche Priest is always used, but I only picked it because I have three (all of which are required for an army) and if I used one of my chunky Nids, some people would no doubt have a problem with it. But yeah, most of all it's a model I'll actually use should it survive said test. Call it an early act of confidence, but the results should speak for themselves.

Whatever.

GW themselves said that you could bend them in hot water.... NOW your going to prove them right, and melt them in the car?

Obvious fanboi is obvious....

I love the way in which you actually think your defending this crap in your various BS posts.

And still... no pictures.

If they were so perfect, then Pictures aren't not just requested, they are demanded now if your going to continue to spam happy thought threads..

as a matter of fact, why don't you go on ahead and MAKE them scientific.

Thermometers for each, one hot, one warm, one hot water.

normal and extreme conditions.

Hot car at 100-120. Car with the heater on. Regular car in the shade on a hot day.

Use hot water, a hair dryer, and a Hot car...

you know.. try to act at least a little neutral in your biased spout offs?

AND... pictures, or your full of gak.

Yarr. Seems 20 is the best I can hope for. Will run it anyways, and then as said rinse and repeat until we get a decent days sun again.

Oh, and Grimtuff, why not look up Gobshite in return? I think you'll find it means one who makes assertions, without having evidence to back it up.

Obvious Gobshite is Gobshite.

So where is your much vaunted evidence to the contrary, gobshite?

Have I said Finecast is immune to high tempratures? Nope. Am I experimenting, however crude it would be (seriously, where the hell do you buy a thermometer?) to see if a hot car will knacker a model? Yup. Have I made a hypothesis already? Have. I. feth.

Piss off back under your bridge would you, there's a good little Troll.

So, uhm, my oven goes from 30C° to 325°C coudn't I just put a finecasted figure in there and see when it starts to "flop".

Like 30 minutes in 30°
cool off, check consistency
30 minutes in 45°
cool off, check consistency
30 minutes in 80°
cool off, check consistency
etc...

I could do I suppose!

In fact bugger it, Oven is now on at 130.

Will stick Tutankamin on a plate, and give him a half hour, see how it turns out.

Here he is, on his sacrifical plate, looking all spindly.

Oven is currently warming up to 130, need to wait for the little orange light to go off, then in he goes for half an hour.

I'm not sure why you're all giving Mr Mystery such a hard time over this....people have been worried about leaving these Finecast miniatures in their cars in the heat, and what it will do to them......here is a guy willing to put the myth (cause that's what it is) to the test, and everyone is busting his balls about it? What gives?

I mean calling the guy a fanboi because he wants to prove or disprove an urban legend really doesn't make any sense.

RIGHTY DOKEY NON-BELIEVERS!

It's been in an oven, at a human life defying 266F, or that's 130 Centigrade for us Brits, for a total of 18 minutes.

I know, I know, not the half hour I threatened, or the later 40 minutes...but check it...

The base is a bit messed up and warped, but the Resin? Just fine and dandy. Of course it's a ever so slightly pliable, so letting it cool off, but when it fairs better than the base (made of plastic) I think this goes someway to proving Finecast really isn't terribly susceptible to high, concentrated tempratures.

Now, those who gave me gyp earlier, form as orderly a queue as you can manage, and pucker up boyos!

Mr Mystery, on previous posts of yours at first I appreciated your dedicated passion to a cause and thought regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with your opinions I could not fail to respect your determination for a cause.

This post though seems to be,

1. A complete bloody waste of time, as mentioned earlier your proving a point that GW explain perfectly well themselves and this experiment seems as useful as a chocolate teapot.

2. looking for an excuse to argue further with people on the forum that you have already clearly enjoyed annoying the hell out of.

3. You clearly can not abide the fact that people may dislike GW, this clearly infuriates you no end. The irony appears lost on you that you have just become the Alpha to their Omega. You complain consistenly about people complaining about GW and that they appear to be hung up on their issues and can discuss nothing else. You appear to be hung up on this.

I am as sick of the Anti GW rant as a lot of people on the forum are, despite my dis-like of GW. You know your trying to annoy people and if the thought of frustrating a few faceless people who use forums to express their insecurities online and make themselves feel bigger in a world that makes them feel oh so small then sadly once again you have landed your self in the team you dispise so much
