Hey guys, I've been browsing the forums for a long time - using and enjoying the many tutorials and user submitted works and I've finally got a product ready to show!
A little backstory - been playing small, unpainted skirmishes for awhile with a friend who picked up AoBR to play Black Templars (which is why I build a dread), but now I'm ready to hit the tabletop with everyone else.
Here is the small force I've finished so far, please let me know what you think!
First, a shot of the regular Bolter-holding Troops:
Second, the two Sergeants:
Third, the Captain:
Lastly, the Scratch-built Dreadnought (sorry no WIP shots, I didn't think this would ACTUALLY turn out):
I've got 3 bikes, a command squad and two heavy bolters on the table to be primed and painted, I'll let you guys know how that goes!

It looks like you've done a good job for your first attempt. Your colors are crisp, and you're very good at metallics, far better than most people at your level of experience.
Do you use Citadel paint? It is the only kind I am familiar with, and your colors look a little flatter than mine. If you prefer a flat look to a gloss look, then it's very good.
Finally, I like your first attempt at a conversion. The dreadnaught you've altered is original, which is what conversion is all about. If you like it, don't let haters bring you down!

Jimsolo- yeah, I use citadel paints on the models, but also use "menoth white highlight" on the parchment, which is a p3 color. Thanks for the kind word.
Chibi bodge- the dreadnought body sections were built using the plastic cards that "pirates of the burning coast" come on (cheaper than plasticard) and gobs of imperial guard bits that I bought using this forum. I didnt have a dreadnought to reference to for size, so mine is a tad taller and missing a proper base. Thanks a bunch!

Whoa- you're saying the dread is completely scratch built? Very nice. The legs look a little spindly but seriously I didn't realize the body was different until you pointed it out. Great job.

I'm liking the look of the White and blue, makes them look a little different from standard Ultramarines

Thanks! Measure twice and cut once, right?

Excellent. When I put him on the tabletop I got a few similar reactions.

I actually didn't know that they were blue and gold, so the white was more of a mistake that I stuck with. I think it makes them more 'mine.'
