Captain Eos had healed, and Chrysaor had utilised his full Magos status to arrange the latest bionic reconstruction of the Captain´s shattered body. His consciousness swam with technical readouts, instantly available downloads from the noonsphere and the semi-aware ships intelligences of the imperium ships nearby. To his newly received awareness the Second Company´s striker cruiser was like a supernova streaming data from its many sensors, cogitators and astropathic feedback.

The Captain wore a new suit of artificer armour, forged to replace the power armour Kharne had destroyed when he had mauled the Captain. The new suit positively hummed with power, Eos had never felt its like, which was no surpise really given it utilised the pre-Heresy combat systems from an ancient honour guard suit. The Magos promised the new suit had also been fitted with a force field generator that would act much like a storm shield, deflecting all attacks aimed at its wearer. At Eos´side was his relic blade, unblemished from the furious combat leading up to the epic confrontation with the betrayer, as well as a plasma pistol freshly acquired from the ships armoury.

The assembled second company was waiting for him on the embarkation desk. In a scene that remined the newly healed Captain of his first foray onto the accursed planet below, his company stood ready to march into the crucible of combat, bringing the Emperor´s light to this dark place. Yet even though the scene was similar, so much had changed since that first foray those few days ago.

Chaplain Bellerophon stood off to one side, his enormous presence magnified manyfold by the titanic and ancient suit of tactical dreadnought armour he now wore naturally, having worn it unscathed over the last few days through some of the most brutal battles the company had ever taken part in. Even minor scratches had been polished lovingly back to a mirror sheen overnight.

Nex to Bellerophon stood Helios. The mighty librarian had been recovered by the Chaplain from a Dark Eldar slave ship even as the company´s strike cruiser destroyed their vessel hiding in the a magnetic field being generated by a nearby moon. Eos had leaned Helios´ formidable mental powers had been blocked by some foul alien neckband while on their ship and he could only imagine how bitterely the Librarian resented his imprisionment. It was a mark of the man that even as the xeno ship was dying, the treacherous and evil Eldar fleeing like lice from a corpse, Helios had the presence of mind to overpower his captors. This was achieved even without his phenominal psychioc powers, and after recovering his bonded force staff, Helios had escaped the ships firey demise. It was a bitter loss that the ancient suit of terminator armour he had worn into the battle was still on the surface below somewhere, having being spirited away by the Eldar tormentors. Since arriving back at the ship the librarian had studied non-stop, reference tome after tome of power, even now he carried a heavy grimoire as well as his always present force staff. Eos had little inkling of what knowledge his old friend sought, or whether it was just the comfort of his books.

The two missions Eos had laid out were clear and had been thoroughly debriefed to all assembled marines. There would be no grand speeches, all knew what was now required of them.

There was no first company support this time, not that Eos wanted any. Second Company of the Aurora Chapter was ample compat power to cleanse the filth from this planet and Eos planned on going to go in fast and achieving a complete purge before his enemies knew what had hit them.

With a nod to Bellerophon, half the company left for their transports, rhinos and razorbacks already secured to the thunderhawk undercarriages. The remaining half, including a detachment carrying jump packs similar to the one Eos himself now carried, headed to the other side of the embarkation deck.

What would unfold was a classic pincer movement. Whether they were Dark Eldar, Bug, Traitor Marine or some previously unknown form of alien filth, Second Company was coming to wipe them out.

Eos followed Helios towards the nearest thunderhawk in a dark and seething mood. The many fallen brothers who had already been lost on this world would be avenged. How he hoped the Betrayer himself remained on the planet below, it had been a mere six days since their previous confrontation so it was possible he still lingered. A viscious half smile played across Eos´mouth if not his eyes: a powerful debt of blood and pain was owed.

Early shot of Helios in chapter 4, he has lost his terminator armour having been captured by the Dark Eldar for a time, and he is very cranky about that. I have since progressed this paint job a lot and will post the new pic asap.

This list won 4 of 5 tournament games for me.

The batreps are up with lessons learned.

Will be dropping the vindicators, they are too unreliable. The tacticals and assault marines did great. Thunderfire cannon had moments of brilliance.

Need more lascannons!
