I am working on building up enough funds to start my own hobby shop, or atleast be able to do miniatures painting, sales, distribution, etc for a living.

So, my first step is to start doing commission painting. So I want to pose these questions...

1) Would you or anyone else you know WANT an army painted like this?
2) Would you or anyone else you know PAY for a Battleforce painted like this?
3) How much would you be willing to pay for a Battleforce like this given...

a) the turn around time would be approx 1 week
b) you can send in your models or we can purchase them for you
c) we can do various colors based on your needs

I'm apologizing now if this is in the wrong forum, but I'm just wanting to test the waters. Now, I may be using a Warhammer 40k battleforce as the example, but lets say a Khador starter set of some kind or any miniature game really.

The end goal would be to:

Produce the playable force size at good to above average table top quality at an affordable price in an expediated fashion (Goal is a 1 week turnaround from receiving initial downpayment, or in the event models are sent in, when the models are received)

This is just an example of the general look of what the basecoat would be on a miniature. Details will be added, battledamage upon request, and the details and damage will be improved over these example pictures. Please let me know what you think. I love wargamming, love hobbyists, and want to do it for a living. I hope this can get me started.

Thanks!

Id say no. They arnt terrible looking, but they arnt to the standard of a commission painting.

Maybe post something of a fully finished model? I don't think anyone I know that's really into the hobby would pay for painted models. I love painting my models, even if it does take me several years to fully finish an army I like feeling like its my own.

It is hard to tell right now based on your photos. I would suggest finishing the models completely (along with base work if you plan on offering that service) according to what you would expect your basic level painting to be. Once you have a finished photograph potential customers will have a better idea of what they would be potentially purchasing.

It may also help to look around at some of the more popular/well known painting services to get an idea of what they charge and what that level of service provides the customer.

Well, frankly, no. I don't think anyone I know would pay for those.

...because I would coerce them to hire hire me instead.

Kidding aside, it is below tabletop quality. People would only pay for tabletop quality upwards, or they'll do the painting themselves.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

I'd imagine only people that really despise painting would pay for a paint job like this.

I don't want to sound mean, but even the most inexperienced painter should be able to pump out a force painted to this standard in no time.

No. I dont want to be a dick, but they are pretty lousy. I suppose they are passable for tabletop quality, but the attempts at 'battle damage' has made the models looked like a 5 year olds failed experiment.

I would not. I could achieve a better quality paint job with basic painting techniques in under 1 hour per model.

Lol alrighty then. Given the overwhelming and immediate response to this post, I think I'll take that as a negatory.

Thanks for the heads up!
