Hey everyone,

I am new to WH40K. Started playing not so long ago and wanted to create my own chapter since I like to stand out. That led me to an idea of creating Ukramarines (Ukrainian marines ). The color theme will be yellow and blue just like the Ukrainian flag. The emblem is a simplified depiction of trident, which is a national symbol of Ukraine. I am a fan of STALKER games and movie so I came up with an idea that my army will be nuclear powered (bye bye exhausts). Probable slogan would be "We march for Chernobyl." Since I did not take pictures of the every step from the beginning, I will be starting from the ones that I got so far. Airbrushing base color (Golden Yellow) has been a great resource and time saver while providing even coating on large flat surfaces. I will be magnetizing the stuff as I go along. So far all 5 pod doors and regulator modules have been magnetized. I glued styrene slices to the the top of the doors to provide grip for opening them (with magnets it became an issue). To keep a variety in my work I will also be working on a Skaven army (Ravin' Skaven).

Here are pics of the drop pod progress.

Here is an updated center console with displays.

Metal parts of the door were painted Boltgun Metal and weathered. Black stripes added. Highlights applied.

Painting harnesses was a good exercise for getting a hang of "gem" technique.

Wow, those harnesses and engine parts actually look like cast aluminium, great work on everything!

Thanks for the comments.

Today I added metal scuffs on the metal surfaces inside the pod and on the engine. Also experimented with painting the cables using layers of paint.

I added a magnet to the turret mount so I can swap out weapons.

Decided that the turret mount should rotate. Added thin styrene strips in order to provide snug fit.

Painted hoses (or wires) on harnesses. Attached all of them to the central piece. Added some highlights.

Went to the local hobby shop and picked up water transfer decal paper for inkjet printers. Also, got some fluorescent green (2.4mm diameter) rods for the drop pod pillars.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Painted small lines with Scorpion Green so the rods would have lighter background. I had some Testors glue for clear plastics, so put it to use in my conversion (or maybe perversion, since I am modifying space marines).

Didn't have much time, but have been working on the pillars. Applied washes. Need to paint metal scuffs and highlight them. Also have been applying varnishes to the doors. Next thing to do is to finish putting green rods into 4 pillars.

I finished up pillars. Still need to varnish them.

Applied washes to the bottom of the drop pod.
