Ok so i am currently making up a 1000 point Slaanesh Chaos marine army.... and i am converting a unit of raptors using (extensively) converted sanguinary guard...
i also want a sorcerer to go with the unit... should i use Astorath The Grim for the model or The Sanguinor?

Both would wprk well, im kinda leaning towards Astorath but i just wanted some outside input...

Astorath is the good choice for me, because he look more pervert and malicious than the Sanguinor.

If you can pull it off, the Sanguinor will be harder to convert but an amazing outcome.

Astorath. Much more dynamic and interesting. Thats just my opinion though.

If a Sorc is what you want then i would go with the Sanguinor. Looks more sorcererish to me. Astorath is just to khorny. I mean cut the iron halo of Sang and then replace it with an Slannesh Icon, Maybe swap out the chalice for a massive syringe or something filled with junk although if its a serious army maybe go for something less comical. If done properly it could turn out really good.

the only thing thats making me lean towards astorath is that a finecast version is available so it will be much easier to work with (and the detail is better, even if only slightly)
plus metal models... they break easily lol
i can see what yourre saying though Azul... it has much mor potential for a sorcerer... its that pose...awesome!

I think, Asthorath is to Khorne-like. The Sanguinor reminds me more to Sigvald the Magnificent and so I would say that the Sanguinor is the right choice.

keeping in mind that if i was to use astorath... i would fill the "gaps" that make it look like he is raw muscle... giving him a more clean, smooth look...

In that case, honestly, that takes away most of the reason to USE Astorath. His muscled, psycho look is the main appeal, IMO, when converting to chaos.

he still will be muscled (so he fits in with the rest of the "buff" sanguinary guard... but its just all of those little grooves that will be grees stuffed in... so he will still have the same awesome pose... and the same toned, sculpted muscle look... he just wont be all... sinewy

Astorath's pose has more potential for conversion IMO, and the shape of those wings looks more sinister than the Sanguinor's.

id hardly say that it would be ruining the model mate...
the whole point of converting a mini is to make something out of something different

and yeah the sanguinor does fit real well... the only problem i have is that he is metal... damn you GW for not making a finecast Sanguinor in the first wave lol

I think The Sanguinor will have better armour for Slaanesh, those clean looking armoured plates would look better than the muscle suit.

so far astorath is obliterating the poll lol
he would clean armour... coz like ive said previously... the muscled grooves would be sculpted flat...
i was thinking about putting astoraths pack on Dante because he is already clean... plus he is finecast so itll be much easier (and not as risky) to convert...
this will no longer be a sorcerer but a champion with lightning claws (the sorcerer in my list has been replaced with anothed deamon prince) and i think dante's pose suits the way i want to have the claws...
