I suddenly had the inspiration a while ago to do some serious kit-bashing using modern aircraft and pitching a 41st Millennium look to them. My first idea for these experimental craft is this conversion on the standard apache helicopter. Still in the working progress, but you see where I'm aiming for. Check out my photos I'm posting up. Would appreciate all of your fellow modelling insights!

Will post up more in the threads - this was my first attempt at putting pics up in a forum page etc

A standard 1:48 scale will fit Space Marines quite nicely. I had to research this a bit first as I did not want to fork out a load of money on wasted models that would not fit what I wanted to do. Im constantly researching the backgrounds of the warhammer 40K universe, and I love how this first attempt is coming out. The two pilots were picked using the standard landspeeder pilot components and the ravenwing upgrade sprue. The commander and master-designer of this attack craft is a verteran dark angel techmarine. The gunner - pilot at the front is from the Ultramarines - all are part of the deathwatch kill team I am designing and building up.

Please note, I am doing this for myself only, I dont play the game. This piece is not finished as of yet. The cockpit took ages of cutting and filing down and setting before it finally fell into place. Of course, I had to paint it first before starting to glue the two main pieces of the hull together. I descided to add typhoon missile launchers onto the ends of the front wings that already hold ammunition load-outs. I did not want to keep too true to the original apache otherwise the whole idea would have failed.

The rear wings were replaced with the oringal model's using a smaller scale main wings part of a stealth fighter. All was spray=painted black as it arrived from the sprues in a murky brown colour that was not worthy of the inqusitor I have yet to add the remainder missile launchers as im painting them first before gluing them in place.

Im also working on a deathwatch landspeeder and bike and my terminator leader. I had done one previously, but was not happy with the outcome. More later
