Here's my new flamer for my tactical squad. The pics are a bit blurry since I am taking these with (sadly) a point and shoot. The camera missed a lot of detail that I could have got with my SLR with the right lens.

..It's actually not that bad at all. If you'd like to emphasize the color, take your tiniest brush and do the thinnest line of yellow you can on the edges of the gold. It'd just make the armour ''pop'' but it really isn't necessary.

Good job.

next time get rid of the mold lines and drill out your barrel. It does your painting no justice if you don't.

It really does make a difference. Some models clean up quickly enough that it's practically no bother, others seem to take hours. In the end, though, I always consider it time well spent. A perfectly clean model with a simple paintjob always looks better, to my eye, than fancier techniques broken by mold lines and the nubs of sprue vents. This guy isn't too flagrant an offender, but those features tend to catch the eye before the paint, sadly. It's a skill I think you'll want to develop alongside your painting.

Showcase has rules:
Mannahnin wrote:EDIT 7/15/11: Couple of groundrules, folks!

1) Models must be FINISHED. Complete. Done. Not-Works-In-Progress. You can decide what's finished, and we're not legislating quality here, but if you're still working on it, it goes in either Painting & Modeling or P&M Blogs. The Showcase is where you show off what you've completed and want to wow people with.

2) That means the base too. Some games/lines/types of dioramas might use unpainted/flocked bases, and if that's the case it will undoubtedly still look neat and clean and finished and we'll be able to tell by context. But for most wargaming models a completed model means a completed and nice base too.
Moving to P&M blogs.

+1 to everything oadie just said!

Something else that noone's brought up yet would be basing. I usually do a basic sand and grass on it, and then paint the outer edge of the base with Graveyard Earth. Some of the events I go to don't consider the model to be 100% unless it's based, and while it isn't necessary, it will certainly add to the aesthetics of the model.

Good luck with the rest of your painting!
