Brother SRM wrote:First of all, fairly cool color scheme. With the basing they look decent from a far. However, you really shouldn't wash the flat areas of the dreadnought; they pool in very unsightly ways. This isn't so much your fault as washes just being washes. Use the washes instead to shade certain areas, for example washing between armor plates, or on rivets, or in areas where light wouldn't reach very well. Your wash also looks like it could be watered down a little bit; it's causing some weird effects on your models. Shake the pot thoroughly, then use a somewhat dampened brush to apply the wash. Finally, the eye color on your models really gets lost. Blue armor with slightly lighter blue eyes is kind of hard to see. Try using a red, yellow, or green instead. Orange would look great as it's a complimentary color to blue.
You've got a good start here, it's just a few details that need ironing out - keep it up!
Good advice here. May I also recommend that removing any visible mould lines increases the overall appeal of any painted model at least 10 fold.
Once you get enough practice (and confidence) try doing some hard-edge highlights. A good place to start would be the armour on the dreadnought as the corners can be easier to highlight by 'edging' with the brush.
There are some very useful articles on Dakka in the tutorials forum if you use the search function.
I really like the army so far, and it's always nice to see that an opponent has taken the time to paint and prepare an army, so kudos to you!
