So I will be trying my hand at a blog for the first time on Dakkadakka .

I want to attempt to finish my Tau army asap so I can finally play a fully painted army and finally finish my tau after leaving them for several years. I'm basically done with 40k because I rebuke the poor management at GW and I lack the money. Perhaps i'll restart my tau army when the new codex comes out but until then this will be the last thing i do with 40k.

I am aiming to finish my 1500 point tau army hopefully around the new year. Albeit, I am graduating this year so this may or may not be difficult with apps to do, SAT 1/2 to finish and attempting a high gpa as best i can.

I am no pro painter. I just paint to my standard of tabletop quality. My colour scheme is fairly simple involving only a basecoat (although i have to work up to the basecoat), highlights, and sept markings. As the title suggests I am painting them the same red as blood angels (using virtually the same method that a certain blood angel player uses for his tanks).

These are the models that i intend to paint.

6x XV8 Helios suits.
3x XV8 heatwave suits
6 Fire Warriors
10 kroot
8 Pathfinders and a Devilfish
2 Broadsides
Hammerhead
8 shield drones

I have already finished most of the hammerhead with only the drones to work on. One and a half of the broadsides. One pathfinder. Two kroots. All the fire warriors are done. One Shas'el.

All the suits are magnetized although i have to greenstuff the multi trackers as the magnets i am using are a bit big and i had to cut away at bits of it to make the magnet fit. I was young when i made the devilfish so everything is sadly glued together. I don't plan on buying any more models so I'll have to make due with the one i have.

I can't post pictures at the moment but i will soon! I may also post up some pictures of some xv15 stealth suits that i finished. They are not in the list but they were my favourite models when i first got into Tau and i found it a shame when they changed the model in the new codex.

I get lazy and have on and off moments with painting and what not so updates may not be consistent. Also, i have school to worry about =p. So sorry for future delays.

I shall post pictures tomorrow!

EDIT: None of my painted models are based so i'll have to do that as well. I need to pick up some sand from the local beach as the one i got from GW is just too fine.

These are pictures of what i have painted so far. Its not much. I still have a ton to do before i can even start painting. I have to magnetize a lot of the xv8 weapons and arms and make a few more shield drones. I also have a devilfish that i'm debating on how to refurbish. I am working with a lot of old models here so the quality of some of them may not be as good as a few of the newer ones.

Tomorrow I plan to get some sand from the nearby beach for the bases and start magnetizing the rest of the xv8s that are currently not magnetized.

Also, does anyone know of any good method to strip white primer? I have two Helios suits that were ruined from white primer and I don't know how to strip them. I live in Hong Kong so a lot of the products people normally use may not be available here. This would be of great help because then I wouldn't have to magnetize 2 xv8 suits that i have and can procrastinate their magnetization for a future date.

As you can see I still have a lot of work to do. With only a fraction of the army painted I still need to magnetize a good number of weapons and support systems

I want to add some more highlights to this and a few more sept markings to break up the blocks of red.

Do you have Dettol detergent there? Just mix some with water and put the things that need stripping in there for a couple of days.

That's a very nice red that you have there. What's your recipe? Could use those for my BA.

Swordwind- I got the scheme from Jawaballs, a very dedicated blood angels player on youtube. He has a lot of tutorials on painting. The scheme I'm using is the one he uses for his tanks which is a blood angels red over mechrite red, then baal red wash with a blazing orange highlight followed by an extreme highlight of a mix of blazing orange and a yellow paint. I am just trying to finish my tau so I just painted my models up to blood red then highlighted them blazing orange.

MrTau- I actually would have loved to paint the clothing a different colour but I really just want to get these models done. I've had my tau sitting around for years and its just gotten to the point where I just want to get them over with. Maybe when I'm up for it after this project I'll refurbish the models but until then I just want a fully painted army.

Wow. You've got some of the best looking Tau I've seen to date. Love the color, love the highlights, love the markings, I just love it all. Ku-freakin'-dos man!
