I've been a sci-fi guy for a long time, but last year I began playing Song of Blades and Heroes with my club. Until now, I'd been using rebased D&D prepaints. I wanted to try my hand at fantasy figs and see how different companies figure copmpared, so I picked up various figs from B-Town, flea market, friends and Games Plus. Luckily mixed warbands work well in SoBH.

Here is "The Union of the Green:

Warband leader. A Scottish looking dog by Dark Sword miniatures.

Echindox. A reaper fantasy Groundhog

Dwarf Druid by Reaper

Cat man. Not sure what kind of cat or what brand. My friend thinks it's from a line called 100 armies.

Half Giant By Magnificent Ego's

Dwarf Slayer by Hasslefree Miniatures EDIT: It's Fantazation, not Hasslefree!

A hare warrior. A very old Ral Partha figure

All together. Last night they played 2 games of a SoBH Campaign. Won one and lost one.

All were painted as follows:
Prime with Gesso
Block colors
"Dip": Brushed on Minwax polyshades. Either Minwax Antique Walnut (Similar to AP Strong Tone) or Tudor (Like AP Dark tone).
Eyes and Drybrush for hair
Matte Spray
Base

Not Pro-Level by any means, but I'm really pleased with the results.

Thanks guys. As to Echidnox, he was a limited edition piece for charity from Reaper and is no longer made, but he pops up for sale online occasionally. I found mine at a flea market.

They are still releasing more minis in that series, about one a year. http://www.reapermini.com/LegionofJusticeandCaeke

Also, for minis in a similar style, the mouselings are a nice option http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/mouseling

Great looking group of figures. Do your opponents know you cheat when you use them, though?

Thanks!
I assume you came her via my post in the thread decrying the unfairness of dipping...

Actually a couple of my clubmates also dip their figs and one or two might have started since they saw mine.

Thanks for the heads up Grimtuff,
I'm not sure how I missed that. I was in a hurry, but still...

Anyway, I just plucked it off with twezers. Luckily it was just attached by a bit of PVA. The matte varnish and polyshades are far harder coatings so it didn't affect the paint job.

Reason 78 why I like the "dip".
