I'm wondering why some companies insist on running KSs just before christmas. There's no way I'll be able to take part due to the timing, and I'm not alone among the people with families.
The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.
May be part of the KS if it's finished in time. The design is meant to be outdated tech, not elegant but reliable and found most places so generic so it will fit with any faction. It's more of a terrian piece so it has a flat top for standing models on, (at least that's the explanation from AW).
It will be resin as far as I can tell the facebook article is a bit vague but they talk about casting it.
Faction specific dropships will come later.

That's the same model as the papercraft dropship from Topo Solitario. Right down to the name. It has large, flat sections because it was designed to be made from paper.
EDIT: Not implying anything untoward, just pointing out that it's based on an existing model/design.

Nothing untoward at all TOPO, Marcos Hidalgo did the new 3D model from the orignal paper model design it carries over a lot of the original features including the boxy design that was a limitation of paper modeling.
By that metric, my IG army that I was planning on expanding and using them for should have tripled by now and I should be the proud owner of a 3k Grey Knight force as well... but neither of those projects panned out in 2012 either due to the almost simultaneous price increase, finecast switchover, and 6th edition rules changes. Even if I get into infinity with n3, I don't have any use for dropships at the moment and my personal interest for them has passed other than just simple joking on the often delayed subject.

We Munch for Macragge! FOR THE EMPRUH! Cheesesticks and Humus!
Antenociti must've made some agreement with Toposolitario. The dropship isn't his only design Antenociti is making. They've also shown Toposolitario's utility truck/APC.
I for one am quite pleased to see the Toposolitario vehicles being made is resin. I'd totally be down for a chickenhawk. I kind of hope they do the hovercraft, too.

They discussed this very thing in AW's thread in the official forums. Topo basically came in and said "Go nuts! I love it!"
"Holy Sh*&, you've opened my eyes and changed my mind about this topic, thanks Dakka OT!"
We're into the time where we now have to concentrate on getting this months Infinity releases finalized, photographed and out, so it looks like we will be putting back the KS for a week.
We're also considering that a few folks have asked for the KS to be shifted so that it finishes at the end of the month (to tie in with pay days) and we're also considering that, so we'll get back with a date once we've done some more work on the end of month releases and so forth.
Antenociti's Workshop Not a live time - but it will end on November 30th. Start will be between 9th and 16th... we need to get all the month-end Infinity stuff out the way, then tie up a couple of loose-ends for the KS itself... we've another video we now want to make (of each Habitat) and then better organize a few other things. We've also got a Laser--service on Monday next.... so its handy to get that out the way also.

As to cover... I think the way they explained it in the Icestorm battle report video, the first one, you had to be in contact like before. Doesn't necessarily mean anything is set in stone though.

It's waist-high cover that you can shoot over. So long as you're touching it with your model, you can declare cover and shoot at everything on the other side.
If you want full cover, go prone.
Cover doesn't always have to be the height of the model.
The wording in the second ed rule book is "In order to receove cover modifiers, a figure must be in base contact with the scenery." Unless the rule is different in N3 or there is specific errata the point was if a model is behind that cover in many cases its legs would prevent the base from touching the scenery.
Edit: Actually no, the rule hasn't changed. I remember Carlos bringing it up in the BoW demo game.

While I'm normally of Antenociti's stuff, these are kind of a miss for me. Why are they on stilts? Why are the cargo containers diamond shaped? How are you supposed to store anything in these when there's no flat bottom to put things on? Clearly he should have gone with hexagons. I do like the precolored aspect of them though. That's kind of cool.
They don't really make sense, do they? I guess they're from the "different for no good reason" school of sci-fi design.
Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about.
It will be good for blocking LOS for some things though...

From Operation Icestorm at least in partial reference to cover (whether there will be more in depth to it with N3 is unknown):
Cover Cover can obstruct Lines of Fire and offers troopers a modicum of protection. The target of a BS Attack is in Partial Cover when it is in base to base contact with a piece of scenery that partly blocks the Line of Fire of the attacker. Troopers in Partial Cover impose a -3 Modifier to the BS Attribute of their attacker, and also enjoy a +3 Modifier to their own ARM Rolls.
In this case I don't think the bases will be able to touch the scenery, not to mention the design as crates just don't make sense. Maybe if the environment were space containers where you didn't need to worry about an up, down and gravity but currently they seem oddly shaped to store anything. You could make them new style garbage bins or something else instead of storage containers.
