Ok was bored and had some GS turn up today .
So heres this chap in mk4 let me know what you think ?

I like it! It actually looks like its size is more along the lines of what I would expect from a Space Marine. Did you do it larger than typical GW power armor? I always envisioned PA marines to tower above guardsman...

Yes mate he's actually taller than a terminator . His bolt pistol is made out of a storm bolter !

You know, these days I don't even bother looking at GW Mini's they are so dull and formulaic compared with what people on the various 40k Forums come up with.

Your GS skill is really coming into it's own. Is he True Scale?

I really need to master some GS work, I always seem to end up with a fine fingerprint on whatever I produce and end up trying to file it down.

Finished early from work today so chucked some paint on him while there was still a bit of light .

He was undercoated with grey car primer so that had a wash of black weathering powder then first major highlights of fortress grey/water 1:3 then a narrower highlight of fortress grey/water 1:1 then a edge highlight of astrinomicon grey with a final white highlight on the top edges.

He then got dry powder weathering on his feet and lower legs I've sealed this with a Matt spray varnish.

Not sure how I'm gona do the face yet realy want to get that tanned by the light of a hundred suns look .

The black bands on the armour have got red cthonian runes on them as well .

How did you wash with the Dry Weathering powder? I would be interested to know, as I have 2 sets of Tamiya powders but have never thought of using them as a wash! He looks very nice, a subtle but detailed look.

Just add water like a powder paint . It drys Like a matt wash instead of a shiny black ink like most .

Got the skin tones done and given him a bit of a Buzz cut again using the darkbrown powder.

i like how you talk about sculpting this guy 'cause you are bpred!!!
i have to sculpt a bit here and there for my comissions, and sculpting still scares the bejeezus out of me...
i think inbesting in some colour shapers may make all the difference though, right tools for the job and all that...

anyway, he looks great...
i like how the neck armour looks, based on the GK armour, and the bolter rocks...
the power sandals make me think of all the tourists here at the beach though...

You know it never occured to me before the FW mk4 Marines are missing the toes.
That is a great little old man detail
(Before anyone asks, a Old Man Detail is a little something on a model that gives a nod to the old days,Like Toes on Marines,Bright Red Bolters,Goblin Green bases to name but a few)
I do it all the time

One of my favourite Old Man details is black and white check on power fists or Industrial hazard stripes. Pictures like this always take me back.



I have always loved this model, the Power Sword, Power Fist with AUX grenade launcher and a Storm bolter, he is ready for anything. Ah nostalgia.

Your gona love the stripes in his chainsword then ! Have also just started on a jump pack world eater aswell

Possibly a tiny bit too truescale but i appreciate the execution.

The secound of my new pre heresy marines he was gona have a jump pack but after 3 attempts I still wasn't happy with it so gona try that out on a later model I'm hoping to do one for each legion .

It's cut from foam board ie a ring shape then the grate is greenstuff
