Over the hills and far away.

You sir are a lucky man. Not only do you have a wife, she also decides to paint AND picks Deamonettes to paint first off. Nice.

Its very nicely painted too for a 1st model. Kudos to her.

It is her first model. She has a great eye for colors and she just painted them based off what they looked like on the box.

Well, I can finally thank all those that love my work. I am Lys' wife. Sadly, these pictures are all that remain of my 'nettes. However I do plan on doing Eldar as my next project since I dont have to worry about moving anywhere else. With Lys' help, you may see more pictures of my work.

Thank you very much. I know I need room to improve so any tips are welcomed. My plans in the end are to get a Revenant and Phantom Titan for Eldar. Once I get them they will not be for sale once I paint them. I do want to do them justice so I must learn how to pain jewels perfectly, in my opinion, to achieve that. Thankfully with Eldar there are plenty of jewels for me to learn with.

From what it looks like the primer is a bit gritty, so I'd recommend getting that down before painting too many more models. It's not so much an issue of the brand of paint as it is the technique in applying it. I recommend practicing with either old spare models or bits of sprue to get it figured out. Your models will look ten times better(not that they don't look good) once you get that kink worked out.

Thank you Aerethan, for pointing that out. I thought it was a bit odd that it had that texture but so far it looks like it worked out for me in little ways. Before we moved, I had started on the standard for them, the flag, and for the most part it was smooth as could be. I dont know if it was because of the model it got that texture but I will work on it in the future.

As for what my husband put, I actually had a friend of ours put her together and primer her. Normally my husband and all of our friends that play 40k use black primer. I dont know if its just because it was his first time using it or what, but it was my idea to use the white primer. Thank you for letting me know so I will fix that. Needless to say I dont trust my husband in doing it since I have had the primer come of on some of my other models he's done for me.

You usually get the gritty issue if you are the wrong distance away from the mini.

A few tips for spray undercoating.

Make sure you read the instructions on the can it should say the rough distance you should be away from the model.

Looking at an Army Painter guide I have in front of me it says
1. Shake can well.
2. Max distance of 20cm
3. Move the can at all times when spraying

Don't undercoat minis when its cold or windy. Spray cans hate being used when they are cold or the temperature your spraying in is cold.

Always spray a bit of sprue before doing the minis to make sure its ok, some white sprays especially GW's can be a bit dodgy.

Hope that helps

Thank you GiraffeX. That will help me out lots since at the time, the people I know used to go outside to primer everything. My husbands likes to get too close and he loves to use P3 primer so after touching my Malifaux models after they dried and all that jazz, my fingers still turned black and my models had the pewter become noticeable afterwards.

A fool proof way of priming is to airbrush primer which is what I do. It isn't aerosol based so you don't end up with gritty issues, although in most cases it is slightly more fragile than spray primer(which won't matter after it's painted and varnished).

Thanks again, Aerethan. As of right now, Lys and I do not have the money for an airbrush so for now we are stuck with areosol. I will keep that in mind though once we get the money. I will be sure to post my next set of models once I get them.
