hey im new to painting but heres a few things ive done, i know the bases leave a little to be disired lol but any who..

and some more few orks i think they are pretty good lol but all opinions welcome

Your painting looks pretty good, but your lighting is really awful. Get a desk lamp, point it at the models, and put a piece of paper behind them to reflect light.

Some bits look a bit glossy, like the Nob on the far right in the last picture. Is this intentional? How are you doing this? If you're using washes without shaking them up first, they will often dry glossy.

Your painting skills are solid. You've got a good grasp of highlighting and weathering, and that Crusader looks baller. I'm really not a fan of the grass on the bases though; covering the entire base looks sloppy, and I personally prefer a smooth beveled edge as opposed to having every model standing on a moss pile. Also, is that HELBRECHT and all that text on the side of the Crusader a transfer or freehand? If it's freehand, then I'm sincerely impressed.

You've got some good stuff here, you just need a little refinement here and there, and to drill out your barrels. Keep it up!

thanx man yeah lighting was gay' and yeah i put gloss varnish on most of my models i rekon it looks better and yes the bases are so gak coz i started doing the models awhile ago and hadnt really gotten into the whole scene properly, but now i can see that they look crud, my next models will have proper bases i just didnt wanna have to go and change all of them. yes my helbrecht was free hand it took me a while to get it right but i think it came out well

Jazzalenko you Buety! looks preety good, but I woud'nt flock the sides of the bases. but it still looks really good.

thanx mate, yeah i can now see that it looks pretty crap n lazy my next models will have schmick bases lol i didnt really like the bases with the plastic edges shoting but yeah they are alot cleaner.

If you paint the sides brown or black it will really add some contrast.

lol im in the process of ripping all of my bases off and redoing them all haha I cleaned the sides off of a few minis and it dose look waay better, but on some i cant clean the sides off and will just rip them off, ive seen some cool looking bases on ebay ... pic attached

Look like back 2 baseix stuff, used them alot, just remeber to pin the models when you attach the model to the base.

wait you are asking a question, sorry I can be stupid sometimes. pinning is when you drill a hole with a pin vice in the two places you wish to stick together. eg. an arm and a torso. you then stick a peice of paper clip into the hole. when you sick the two peices together they create a strong bond.

you could also use corking for the bases, it creates the smae sort of effect. my gallery has some examples if you want to have a look. (I just realised I am starting to hock my own crap )

Very nice! The painting is very solid and they will look even better on more scenic bases!

The head swap on the warboss seems a little off, though; it takes some of the vinegar out of his pose. It is painted really well, but after seeing the AOBR with the angry face time and time again, it stands out.
