Make a HQ choice (no points limit) and post it here. Most weekends I will draw names out of a hat and fight the battle! I will even write a story about the battle! 4 Battles per week! only 100 entries. Must be legal. No retinues. Illegal builds will lose stuff until they become a legal build. E.g losing a weapon so that they are legal!

Two quick questions:

1) If the HQ choice is a squad (Such as an IG Company Command Squad) Is it allowed?

2) If the HQ choice is listed as being able to take a dedicated transport, is that allowed?

sorry, the answers are both no. But if you were playing IG you could go with a Lord Commisar

Ok, Space Marines it is then, never really liked the lord commisar.

The rift opened with a scream, as loud as a vortex missile impact. The Ultramarines acted with typical efficiency and were there just as it opened. While daemons of Khorne and space marines slaughtered each other, The chapter master hunted for the diabolical Arch-fiend behind the assault. The Portal opened and a daemon, large as a house, stepped out. The Master recognized it from the Liber Chaotica. It was a Bloodthirster of Khorne! The Bloodthirster took full advantage of it's superior movement to get close to the chapter master as quickly as possible. The Bloodthirster slung it's whip at the chapter master, but the stoic marine took this in his stride! Most men would be running scared, but the chapter master lowered his pistol, took aim, and fired. He missed! The Bloodthirster decided enough was enough and with a cry of Blood For The Blood God, he charged into combat. The Bloodthirster inflicted mass damage, but the marine's armour and iron halo stopped the daemon in it's tracks. But then the Bloodthirster struck once more, wounding the chapter master! The chapter master fell to the ground, and he was tempted to run home to mummy, but he bravely stood his ground. He then struck, his relic blade shearing through the
Bloodthirster's armour, but not before launching an orbital bombardment upon the monster! The relic blade managed to pierce the Bloodthirster's heart! Sadly, the planet was so tainted that the Ultramarines had to enact exterminatus upon the planet. The chapter master had one last, brief glance over his shoulder before returning to his Thunderhawk. The Marines headed home to Macragge, in front of a blazing sun.

No special stuff eh? In that case

24" weapons, Bs5, JSJ. That's going to be tough to catch. Assuming you don't play like an idiot and stay 24-30" away.

Great! I won!

Couple of problems. I was on a bike. How could I fall over? Also, I would have used my storm shield to protect me rather than my iron halo.

Basically, bolt of change the enemy.. very good against Grey Knights and Marines for instant death. Pretty much, other than Grey Knight characters, just shoot a few bolts then get into melee with Warptime and smash some skulls!

However, can you also post the mechanics of the fight?Whilst I do appreciate the effort put into the writing it does nothing for me. I'll read a novel if I want a fluff filled fight description.
I'd prefer to know who hit, if they wounded, did they save, did they shoot and charge etc etc.

I was gonna put in my bet for the Shas'o- he would be hard to catch.

However, Autarch Jetbike goes one up.

Against the Shas'o, turbo boost out of los- next turn 18" charge range (no where to run or hide) one turn of assault would easily end the Shas'o.

Against extreme close combat opponents (Grey Knight grenades) just instant kill with the fusion gun. Against regular opponents, knock off a wound or two, cat and mousing, then mince the last few with the lance (hideous amount of power weapon s6 attacks on the charge).

Er, Autarch on a bike is great and all, but the Farseer does it a bit better

Farseer's got that fortune to drive his opponents crazy. Hes also got mindwar to dance assault monsters to death with his jsj. Basically more durable and better long range options. Don't forget that if the farseer gets the charge he'll beat that Autarch too... that whole always wounds on a 2 thing v s3 not power weapon...
