I know it... I feel it. Everyone who started an imperial guard army bumped on how should I make, convert and paint my Veterans?! Well... Comrades, whiteshield recruit lolman is here to flank your problem!!

Maybe some of you know.. But i discovered it was very beautifull.
Cadian shock troop bodies with pig iron productions heads.
I prefer the winter heads.

There are also good looking gasmask helmets.
Just see the pics and decide..

They are nice, I have to agree, personally though I use either respirators or rucksacks on my veterans, just a personal preference of mine.

Thx! Rucksacks are possible too.. But in my opinion thats like.. Dude wtf you are fighting orks. Why you have that big sack on your back?!

To carry food, water, spare magazines, cleaning kit for your weapon...

For my army, I keep my regular guardsmen just plain so they just get a gun, but for the vets I'll give them backpacks and the other bitz like canteens and grenades. They're all painted in the same color scheme but since the regular guys are plain the vets are still real easy to notice. Plus I tend to give the vets cooler poses when I can.
