So what do you think of this camo/armor fade?
Ignore the solid gold Assault Marine with 2x power fists in the background. (if you can)

Solid gold Marine = Epic, BTW
But the camo effect isnt half bad! The way I did my Defiler Army (Pics will come soon) is to apply random, blobbed, jagged shapes. This gives a more authentic camo look (I looked at my uniform, or google is also good)

Well, perhaps a little to much metal? The decoration on the helmet and rifle could easily be done with another colour. And you should perhaps use a darker metal? Boltgun metal is what looks best IMHO.
And well, this is not against you mate, but you seem to have fallen in the GW-camotrap. Alrigt, it might be a awesome look to have totaly different colour on the armour and uniform, but mostly it just feels wrong (again, that's my opinion). And if you're to keep that colour on the uniform, skip the white areas and use something else. They just stands out to much.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

The camo seems to be working.
PS: Tip from a fellow IG player, don't paint eyes for regular guardsmen. You'll be 90 years old before you finish all of the eyes.

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

Totaly agree. But then I might be a bad painter, barely painting it for my CC and PCs... Besides, the helmet on the cadian model will hide it away, so it's no big loss.

I agree.
I rarely paint the eyes on my guardsmen.
Overall I think the models would benefit from a Devlan Mud wash all over.

I use Badab Black because I like how it makes the scorched gun effects and the metallic colors pop on the crests.
Only problem is it messes up the skin.
I have to go back in and dry brush it a bit to get rid of the coal miner look.

I like 'em. The only thing I'd say is that I like drabber greens. I don't mind the "coalminer" look, these guys just look like they're up against it. Also, camo's don't have to work in the traditional sense of blending into the environment. Anyone in the British army can tell you about how they personally went into iraq wearing woodland camo, or a mix at least thanks to the wonderful way in which equipment is procured in the modern army.

I personally like the idea of a Badab Black wash over the skin, it's because i use it myself :p i think that this "coal-miner" look is very realistic in a sense to what the IG are really up against, and the wide array of worlds they'll fight on.

When I paint the "Coal miner" look, I just paint the face Vermin brown (but I have DKOK, so the tip is not very useful).
Back to the topic, the gun effect is pretty good, but you could actually blend a tiny bit of Shining gold near the edges of the burned-out parts od the gun.

HAH! Thar we go. Just kinda shows how the sharp, irregular shapes work. Its not fantastic, as its not complete.
