I've been out of the loop for the last four (ish, could be off) months. Can someone fill me in on what's changed? I know new O&G, and TK army books were released, how were they received? Have they changed the balance of the game? I've been long interested in Tomb Kings, are they more playable now?

Other changes to the meta, or general strategy? Are new army types viable?

Both solid, I think that some of the fear of using big flyers has reduced. At least in my area.

New vampire stuff is very interesting, I think that will bring out some of those lower cheaper magical weapons into list building.

Vampire had a new unit released with rules (Yes, official rules) in WD. It's called a Terrogheist and is basically a huge undead bat with powerful banshee type scream. The kit can also be a zombie dragon and there are two different riders. The Terrorgheist can be either a rare choice or a mount for a Ghoul King (Vampire Lord with Ghoul Kin power). Banshees and Wraiths got new plastic models too and can be fielded as heroes in addition to their rare slot.

EDIT - The new army books notably tone down the power of armies. Magic items are a lot fewer (about 10 per book) and are usually quite high priced (between 50-100 points with the odd 25 point item). This of course seriously cuts down on super magic item combos. Core Troops tend to be a lot cheaper in points so far (Orc Boyz, TK Skeletons and Ogre Bulls have all received a points drop).

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Ogres are getting redone on Saturday.

They are getting several much needed changes. Bulls are now super cheap(16 Gnoblars with the no brainer Ironfist upgrade. previously they were 21.5 Gnoblars for the same equipment)

2 new monsters. Stonehorn is basically a giant Cave Buffalo that inflicts massive pain when it charges. Thundertusk is a Mammothish monster with a couple of riders, some nice shooting attacks, and a 6" ASL aura for enemy models.

They also are getting perhaps the heaviest Cavelry unit in the game currently(excluding Rhinox Riders who didn't make it into the book, but will be coming in the Tarmukan FW book which will be a completely legal Warhammer list) Mournfangs are Ogres riding giant predatory cats, they do D3 impact hits on the charge, are Str5, and are ridden by an ogre bull. they can get HA and Ironfists to have a 2+ armor save. Ironfists are shields that can Parry even while mounted.

a unit of 6 deals out between 36 and 45 attacks on the charge.

Nearly all Ogre units inflict impact hits when they charge(no more minimum distance) and get a bonus if they roll a 10 or higher for their charge distance(Ogres deal D3 impacts instead of 1, other models typically deal an additional impact hit)

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
