A little heavy on the dry brushing! I would repaint the shell then use a method called feathering. Basically you add thin lines of a color lighter to the edges and then repeat it with either a lighter color or a white.
It looks like this:

Notice the multiple layers giving a fading effect but a very sharp one, almost bone or wood like.

Also I highly recommend dipping! There's this stuff called Army Painter Quickshade that you use to dip miniatures after a basecoat to shadow them quickly and effectively. I'd say go for strong or dark tone. They even have tutorials on how to use the dip method.

Oh! and you need to get a can of their matte varnish spray if you're going to dip or else they come out high gloss and ugly.

The feathering takes some patience for sure. I did it on my bugs by starting with a base black plate then added light up strokes of the layered colors releasing pressure as i went up to achieve a point rather than a blobbed end. Often I'd mess this up but - Don't panic! Just continue laying down strokes of that color until you have finished the entire carapace, then go back and add streaks of the base color (black in my case) in the opposite direction to fix the mistakes. I used 3 colors on my nids, liche purple, followed by warlock purple and finally fortress grey to add a sharp contrast.
