I think you're off to a good start. I do like how you've mirrored the power weapon effect from the terrain, seems a very Salamander-ish way to show that. I like the shield on there as well, nice way to tie in the scale designs.

I think you could use a little more highlight and shading on some areas, like the Iron Halo device on top, and the major plates of the armor. For the Iron Halo, give it a wash with some Gryphonne Sepia or maybe with Ogryn Flesh if you want it to take a more red metal tone in the shadows. Rehighlight with your gold, then for the extreme highlights, mix some of your gold with a Mithril Silver-like metallic and apply it to the points and flatter areas, and onto the forehead of the skull.

A little wash of thinned out Badab Black wash will help your Terminator badges on the shoulder and knee stand out a bit more as well. A little drybrush on those areas after the wash has dried will help bring your highlights back.

A good start so far, though! Just a little more attention to those things and you'll have a good standard for the rest of your force!

I really enjoy it! Love the base and I really like the Buckler on the arm!

Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

And before that, they were brown-skinned, and before that they were dark grey-skinned. Fluff says they havee "dark skin" due to a malfunctioning gland, what "dark skin" means is up to the player. 'Eavy Metal team != fluff.

Your technique is good overall. Use more shading and highlighting to make those greens look deeper.

Biggest improvement you can make is brush control. Take your time and make good clean edges. There's no hurry.

E: did you prime grey or did you not prime? Either way, I would maybe switch to a white primer or a green primer so your wide flat areas can benefit from brighter undercolor and you can get away with less coats.

I'd wash and highlight the leather-strap array he's got as a loincloth, and pick out the studding in BoltgunMetal or one of the dark golds. I love your buckler and sword setup. Highlight (edge highlight) the red portion of the Stormbolter. Also wash and highlight the CruxTerminati on the shoulder and knee, the effect will move them out of solid grey to a bit more textured look.

All and all I think you got the basics down and are on your way to a real nice looking squad.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

As it stands, I would take the word "vulkan" off his chest. Its messy and detracts from an otherwise neatly painted model. Either leave it blank or get the letters smaller. Not trying to be mean, just my opinion.

Overall your on the right track. I would recommend a different technique for the power sword. I've been using oil paints and it is way easier than you think and looks great. Here's one on my sanguinor. It only takes 4 colors, black, red, orange and yellow. It's really easy to blend and I use water soluble oil paint so its easy to clean. I agree that the "vulcan" on the chest could be smaller also. Another easy thing to try that makes a model look great is to drill the barrels out on the bolter.

Very good, I like the sword. Highlighting the power armour with Scorpion Green works for me
