Almost finished a rusty effect on this monolith with osl from all the blue areas. I've reached a block on what color the cables on the back should be painted and was wondering if anyone has suggestions or criticism. I was considering just painting them up like heavily rusted metal.

Do em yellow so they "pop". Or try a mix of yellow, blue and red wires. The OSL looks great by the way.

Yellow is good idea, the only problem I see with things that "pop" is that the rest of the model is relatively dark as to intensify the glowing effect. I don't want to make it look unnatural by adding too many bright colors. I could try painting a darker, off yellow.

even mechrite red might make the cables pop, if judiciously washed to tone it down. Or iyanden darksun, with gryphonne sepia wash again to mute it and make it pop but without REALLY popping. Effectively, it would say "yellow" without screaming it.

Great OSL work!

Have you considered a dull copper on the cables? It would give the area some definition and you can always dull them down a bit with washes of Devlan Mud.

This gets my vote - either muted brass, or Tin Bitz. I enjoy the contrast of Brass over Boltgun Metal, and you can dull it down quite a bit.
