Looking through my vast amounts of unpainted soldiers I found a unhappy looking primed Tactical Marine sitting with his badly painted buddies from back in '09. I therefore decided to paint him as well as I could, patience allowing, and compare him to my earlier Marines, when washes were still an unknown in the hobby for me.
Here is my first ever model, highlights galore as you can obviously tell:
And here is my updated model, hopefully slightly better:
I am very interested in seeing other peoples early creations compared to their more recent ones so please show them off, if you like!

Cool post Nob'ead! It's always nice to see how a modeler progresses between then and now. Although 2 years isn't really that much of a time difference. I gotta find some of my original minis which I had painted.

The first picture is of my first model ever, complete with hair stuck to it, an unattached hand and awesome painting. The second is a more recent picture of a mini I did maybe 6 months back.

Probably some of my very first models back when I was like 13:
A couple models from a few years later (with no painting or practice inbetween):
And my first finished models after another 5 year break:
I'm simply getting better as I get older it seems. Imagine how good I'd be if I'd actually been painting and practicing this entire time!

I can't find some of my really old miniatures, but here's a model which I had built in 1997. It's after 5 years of building. Around this time, I wasn't really aware of how to efficiently work with seams on a model so no type of putty or special gluing technique was used. If you look closely, you can see all of the seam lines.
1997
Here's one of my more recent models I built last year which closest matches the type of subject.
