As the title states; I've got around a $400 budget for an airbrush and compressor and anything else I might need. What would you all suggest buying

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish? I have 2 airbrush's that I use. My first is a Pasche Double Action that I have had for more years than I would like to admit. The second is a brush I acquired while working in a custom car shop. I would suggest figuring out what your goals are for using the brush and go from there. If you are simply looking to dust the mini's and get a quick highlight effect a single action should be fine is at a lower cost point than a double action. However, if you are going to try and do detail work and such a nice double action would be my suggestion. You can pick up a nice brush and compressor for under the $400 budget you have set.

I'd like to do the majority of a model with the airbrush. From what I've read, I know I want dual action and gravity fed. I've read that Iwata is a good brand but I'm kind of in the dark about air compressors. Any suggestions on brands/models of compressors or brands/models of airbrushes?

Don't know about the quality of the compressor, but I just got a brush and compressor combo off of Amazon. Iwata HP-B Plus Airbrush, with the Airbrush Depot Model TC-20T compressor. Seems to have most of the things you need, with shipping to Alaska it was under $350. Someone else may be able to tell you more about them quality wise, I just ordered it a couple days ago, so I'm waiting for it to arrive. (Shipping to Alaska takes longer.)

I have owned several airbrushes over the years. I have been airbrushing my model cars, planes, trucks, tanks and since I started wargaming my tau tanks and the main base color for my figs. My latest aibrush is a double action from Harbor Frieght $20. I've had it for almost 10yrs, and hasn't skipped a beat. I don't know about their compressors. I have a Brown compressor for airbrushes, someone told me they went out of buisness about 20 yrs ago. (kinda gives away my age) I also have a home shop compressor. I do know the local Harbor Frieght near me has a good looking combo airbrush & compressor set for around $100. If I were you I'd try that.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.
