Just read the bit of text next to the stonehorn model in the 'eavy metal section of white dwarf this morning, and noticed it said how the stonehorn grows crystals on it after a long time.

this got me wondering about painting a crystaline stonehorn, so yeah does the stonehorn actually turn to crystal or gets covered entirely in crystals or not? cheers.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Its body slowly turns into rock over time.

It grows the Gemstone and precious metal much like a human would grow a freckle or a wart.

The model itself has many gemstone deposits on the horns and face.

It's because of their diet that a stonehorn will grow gems on it's body. When a stonehorn gets old, it will go off to a hidden valley (the granitetooth graveyard) and when they die, they completely turn to stone.

Yeah, there are spots on it that can be painted as gems, and the examples are, but it's primarily got a fur coating.

I don't think it would be unfluffy to have it be more or less gem-like, but as stated, when it petrifies, it is unable to move and dies.
