First of all, this is my 1st P&M Blog post so don't be harsh.

Hello, this Thread is about my Tyranid project I have my eyes set on in the future. On the 25/09/11, I started to gather money and models for this projcet, I am new to building, painting and gaming an entire army. I have always wanted a huge swarm of tyranids. Firstly I will aim for 750pts that are assembled and basecoated by the time New Year comes around, after that I have no idea what will happen. I am truly heading for 2000pts by October 2012. If you people can contribute some constructive comments i would be very greatful.

I also have 3 more Blogs coming up for my friends.

So, Here I Go!!!!!!!

Will be Updated every Sunday
Thx, Beast

In regards to your poll:

Heirodules are normally for games much larger than 2000 points. Meanwhile, Mawlocs are very situational and not very reliabble; I think once you play a few games, you will realize that there are better units to invest your time and energy on.

Instead, I would suggest that you begin by building a competive core. Nid list are a bit more varied now adays, but most competive lists still revolve around a units such as Hive Guard, Genestealers, and Tervigons. I would suggest you start there.

The models I have so far are, a Mawloc, a Lictor, 4 Hormagaunts and a ripper swarm. Today, i have been rolling so much GS that my fingers are going to fall off(there are so many gaps in my Mawloc it's unbeliveable)

Thats my Mawloc with almost all the gaps filled with GS. I am very good at making very good natural custom bases, also make commisioned base packs for people in the UK.

My Lictor and others(Not all the Hormagaunts are assembled).

Thx, Beast

If you want a tip from someone whos relativly new with Tyranids aswell, the Battleforce is a really good place to start. Nice core of gants and stealers, and the warriors can be used as a cheap HQ while you wait for your MC:s.

Also, I vote three Mawlocs, cause that's just to awesome ;P. Althought I have to agree with wyomingfox, they are pretty situational. Good advice for using them: Never, ever assualt infantry. WS3 will ensure that to few attacks hit, and with only 3 attacks base, that's not alot. I find Mawlocs are best used as a distraction, and for taking out tanks since their low WS doesn't come in to play.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to the Mawloc bases, since I'm painting a Trygon and a Mawloc myself atm, and I'm in dire need of inspiration for thier bases. Nice to see some love for the Lictors aswell =)

Today, I changed my mind about the Mawlocs. I am only going for 1 Mawloc and a trygon. I will be using the spare Mawloc spines from the other kit.

I don't own a codex so here are the models I have planned to have by Christmas:
1 Hive Tyrant
3 Lictors (1 brood)
16 Termagaunts
20 Hormagaunts
3 Warriors
4 Ripper Swarms
20 Gargoyles
1 Mawloc
1 Trygon

On the Ice World of Fenris....running with the wolves...

You might want to get some Genestelers. They are very good in close combat.

Sorry for not updating for about 2 weeks, been busy with coursework for school.

Anyways, it's been my Birthday, got me some money, got a HT and a nids battleforce. The HT has its torso and legs assembled and base made, the arms are going to be magnetized some time soon for more options. The warriors have normal warrior sized STs and spinefist(your probaly thinking why spinefists, all will be explained), but one of the warrior's ST was not in the box so next Sunday, I will plead with my local GW to give me a spare. I took Imperial Renegade's advice and kept my Stealers which have ST and Toxin Sacs. All 16 Termagaunts have spinefists. The Hormagaunts have Toxin Sacs and Adreanal Glands.

Here are just some pics.

Looking good, small thing thought: You got some big mold lines on your stealers (the scything talons and head). Might wanna scrape em off since the stealers will look so much better without them

Great, so Necrons are now undisputedly Tomb Kings in Space. Thanks Matt Ward, you just lost a 40ker.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
