I've been looking to add another type of Heavy Support to my Chaos Marine army and decided there just arent enough Defiler Variants, so after getting a new kit and Diving into both my bits box and wild imagination i came up something a little fun! Yet to come up with a points value so suggestions would be great!

The Desecrator!

Constructed from the basic defiler chasis and design the Desecrator is a mechanic beast that not only tears a bloody patrh across battlefields but also makes way for others to join in the carnage. It is Equipped with a very dangrous pice of technology known as the Warp Rift Cannon. This Device has the Ability to tear holes in the fabric of reality that allow troops and deamonic creatures to spill forth. It is also equipped with Deadly close combat weapons and flamers that combined with its fury make it a truly terrifying force in combat.

--------------- WS - BS - S - F - S - R - I - A
Desecrator: - 3 - 3 - 6 - 12 - 12 - 12 - 3 - 3

Unit Type:
Vehicle (Walker

Wargear:
Two Dreadnaught close combat weapons (extra attacks already included in profile)
Two Twin-linked flamers
Warp Rift Cannon
Deamonic Possession
Smoke launchers
Searchlight

Special Rules:
Fleet
Furious Charge
Warp Field
Deamonic Rage

Warp Field: Due to the nature of the rift cannon any vehicles or walkers that it is attached to gain a fluctuating field of warp energy that can deflect, nullify or absorb shots of any nature fired at it. This grants the vehicle a 5+ invulnerable save against any damage inflicted in the shooting phase.

Deamonic Rage: The Deamon encased within the body of the desecrator can feel the overpowering energy of the warp surging through the rift cannon. This Causes it to act irrationally and makes its blood lust even stronger! At the start of the movement phase roll a d6 then move the desecrator that number or inches towards the nearest visible enemy unit.

---------------------- Range Strength AP Type
Warp Rift Cannon: - 24" - - 5 - 3 - Heavy, small blast, special*

The Rift Cannon has 2 unique properties:
1. It can be fired anywhere within range on the table and does not need to be directed at a target.
and
2. It Opens a hole in reality that acts as both a portal and an icon and allows the player to bring troops into play from reserve. Only infantry troops may enter play in this manner and may move shoot and assault as if arriving from a teble edge as normal. As a bonus any troops with demonic traits such as possessed or lesser deamons gain a +1 to their reserve rolls. The Warp Rift remains on the table until the end of the players next movement turn and is a shimmering hole in reality that blocks line of sight.

Anyway enough with the text here's some pics of my completed model! painting soon!

C&C always welcome!!

Sounds very cool. And the model is awesome.

But this will need to cost about 350pts to be even close to fair.

Get some paint on it now :-D

Just because I don't care, Doesn't mean I don't understand!

I thought about maybe adding a negative effect from the Warp Rift Cannon, like if you roll double 1 on the scatter dice it overloads and the Desecrator takes a penetrating hit. that make it a bit fairer?

I agree with the need for negative effects on the warp cannon thing. Also i think if you changed it to AP 4 it would be more in line with other weapons. My roommate plays chaos and they need some serious love int he form of new units, or at least a form of Power of the Machine Spirit.

Yeah, I think that would make it more even, and perhaps drop the rear armour to 10 like a normal defiler, and that would be about right.

Then the weapon is just like a 30 points upgrade on the defiler.

But I love the model, can just imagine it shaking the ground with the huge recoil

Yeah good call, while rear armour 10 would make it slightly more vulnerable in combat it still gets its 5+ inv to shooting so a fair compromis. The cannon really has to be ap 2, it rips a hole in reality! lol. Been thinking on the negative side effects of the cannnon, do you think it should overload on just double 1 or any doubles?

I think with the dropped armour and the rolling double ones its about fair.

It would need play testing but I think it would be okay. Killable but still a nice force addition you want in your force.

If you modeled it around a shock attack gun, but maybe slightly less negative effects (since its on a walker). Then i think it would add some risk and fun to an army that is really just a grimdarkier version of space smurfs. Something like double ones drops all your AV to 10 or 11 all around for one turn, and double sixes could still give you the instant death of whatever it touches.

I agree with Forcast, look at the rules for the Orks' Shokk Attack Gun, it's a terrifying weapon but on a misroll can do a lot of unpredictable damage to the firer - that does seem fairly chaotic.

Modelwise I like it, but how about losing the CC weapons and making a 4-legged shooty robot? That might also make it a more balanced vehicle - really nasty shooting but vulnerable to close combat assault, although still dangerous to attackers due to having an angry demon inside.

Coming through the warp rift as if you moved on from the table edge sounds a little absurd. Coming through the warp rift seems like teleporting onto the field and consequently it would use deep strike rules without scattering.

Also, you would normally roll for reserves in the beginning of the movement phase but they would be arriving in the shooting phase? How does this work?

It lasts for one turn.

Good stuff, I agree it should have negatives, and also you should not be able to shoot or assault on the turn you enter.

Ok how does this sound,

on a double 1 the desecrator overloads and takes a penetrating hit that ignores demonic possession but on a double 6 the cannon over powers, doubles strength and uses a large blast marker! Also since the rift is now massive ANY units may use it to enter play from reserve, even Greater Deamons.

Ok it sounds scary but your still scattering 10" off target! Not exactly what you want near your own troops.

You may think its a bit over powered but i say go read the BA or GK codex then look back at this lol ^_~

Yeah Blood angels and GKs are so grossly OP right now its silly, especially compared to chaos marines, they should at lease be able to take razorbacks.... But as far as your doubles is concerned that sounds fine since you aren't determining strength like the ork gun. One thing i was wondering about was, what happens if you kill some stuff under the template, but your opponent doesn't chose to allocate wounds to the ones covered, is he forced to move them out of the way? or does he get a consolidate move or something...

I Think if any models survive the blast they would move or drive out the way, nobody likes to stand in the centre of a opening portal to the warp, gives you really bad headaches!! ^_~

The Desecrator is playing very nicely in test games. It feels just right as it works as a great Deamon Delivery tool! Not too overpowered either but i thought i'd have some fun and come up with a weapon option for it that was truly evil! Mwaahaahaa! ^_~

So using bits left from the defiler kit and the rest of the cannon from the shadowsword i Made this! its so easy to swap around too!

C&C always welcome!

For 30pts the Desecrator may swap its Warp Rift Cannon for an Annihilator Cannon.

Annihilator Cannon: Rng 48", Str X, AP4, Heavy 1.

The Annihilator Cannon uses a combination of technology and sorcery to project a beam of focused warp energy across the battlefield. The release of this energy is so great that at the point of impact the beam erupts into a whirling vortex of force that throws men to the ground and vehicles through the air.

The Annilitor Cannon always wounds on a 3+ regardless of toughness and causes Rending on a 5+. When Firing at Vehicles It ignores Armour Values and causes Glancing hits on a 3+ and Penetrating hits on 5+.

Blast Shockwave: When firing the Annihilator cannon if a hit is scored on the intended target place a large blast template over the centre of it (if the unit being fired upon is a squad then the template is placed over a model chosen by the opponent). Everything under the template takes a str5 ap5 hit and vehicles are automatically shaken. Also any suviving models must then be placed around the outside of the blast template in a circular manner (if the model being fired upon was a vehicle and it was not destroyed it stays in the centre of the blast and does not move) , any models ending up in dangerous or impassable terrain are also removed as casualties. If the cannon missed its target then roll for scatter for the blast marker and apply the same rules as above.
