Subject: Death Korp of Krieg Infantry: Which colour?

Greetings chaps & chapettes,
I come with a humble question for you, but a bit of background first.
I'm working on a Death Korp of Krieg army for the UK 2013 Doubles Tournament, an infantry heavy army based off of the British WW1 Machinegun Corps. This army will be packing plenty of Heavy Weapons squads and will have as many Heavy Bolters as 875pts will allow (essentially 18) along with a rough Rider detachment. As the 'lore' for the unit is that they're the 'Machinegun Company' of the 56th Krieg Siege Regiment & a troop of the 111th Krieg Mounted Regiment, I want the colour scheme to reflect the standard Krieg look of being dark and sombre but I want there to be quite a difference between the infantry and the cavalry. Currently I am halfway through my Death Rider (Rough Rider) unit which I have painted thus;
Now the question is this; what colour would you chaps & chapettes suggest for the Krieg infantry?
The four options I can think of are dark grey, dark blue, dark green or dark grey/green. There is a fifth option, which is to use the same colours as the cavalry uniform but use it across the infantrys greatcoats and their armour rather than having the armour one colour and fatigues another.
So please, give me your suggestions.

I like the look of them. I did dark grays on mine and painted the Armour sliver. Its up to you I kept mine dark.

I am definitely keeping the infantry dark as they are part of a Siege Regiment, which hardly evokes the thought of brightly coloured uniforms such as those the Mordians wear. Just having a really tough time picking which colour.

I usually paint my infantry wearing a grayish coat and a boltgun metal helmet with a badab black wash. If you want it darker, use some other non-metallic colour.
I have never tried cavalry, but I paint my veterans' armor black, with a white stripe going across the chest. I keep my lenses pretty dark so they have a rather soulless look on their eyes.

The traditional Korps are like your, but with more cream coulor like those on the gas mask. I depends on if you want the standard look (Dark Blue) or if you want another (its upp to you, but i would go for Brown and the cream coulor i talked about earlier)

Brown I do want to steer clear of as I have Forgeworld weathering powders to add once the models are finished, namely 'Fresh Mud'. As their bases are going to be heavily mud based, testing out 'SecretWeapons' mud basing kit with these, I want the contrast between base and model to be clearer than if they were brown against a brown background.
Must admit the more I've thought about it today, the closer I am steering to dark grey, but there's something about the 'RAF' grey-blue I really like. Will have more of a ponder, but thank you for your input Gents.

Thank you very much for saying so, very kind of you. Hopefully once the entire troop is finished they will all look good, but as I'm only 3 down and 6 1/2 to go, Commissar I'm midway through, we'll see how I get on.

This scheme here gets my vote, kinda bluish grey. Beautiful IMO. Not my work but here is the link to the tutorial

I went with a scheme inspired by British WW2 uniforms - Khaki uniform with green webbing/helmet:
But this might not work for you if you're adding brown "mud", as you say...

Thanks for the pictures, more food for thought, although I think those grey Krieg might be a little light for me, but it's something to work from at least.
I had considered using British army colours, as I have the correct Vallejo paints which I was going to use for my Flames of War 'Battle of France' BEF troops (other things got in the way so I did not use them), but when I considered the mud bases I went off the idea. It's a good scheme for your chaps though with the green/stone bases you use.
Thanks again chaps.
